Our Vessel.

I didn’t recognize you.

I didn’t know who you were.

Your presence seemed wrong and your sightings a blur.

I wanted to run.

I wanted to shout.

I wanted to do anything - to get those feelings out.

You weren’t my home.

You weren’t what you were supposed to be.

You felt like the furthest thing from me.

The body is a vessel.

A machine of its own.

Whose purpose is to take us through

And make our personalities shown.

The body is a thing.

It’s there to just be.

But what happens when my body doesn’t feel like me?

We live in a world - full of signals and signs.

Telling us how to be and trying to tell us our why.

This world can instill things.

Some good and some bad.

It can instill things,

Things that make us happy or also make us sad.

My body is a vessel.

It is a part of me.

But is it the only thing that you see?

What if you did?

What if you did see just that?

What if everyone’s thoughts did play out like my mental map?

See- because my body is my vessel.

It stores my organs and veins.

But to me- my body thoughts rule lots of my days.

Inside of my head-

Many things abound.

But the greatest of them all – my bodily fears are aloud.

What if it were different?

What if it wasn’t the same?

What if my body were just a thing that took me through my days?

See, body - I didn’t recognize you.

I didn’t know who you were.

Your presence seemed wrong and your sightings a blur.

I struggle with you.

I fear your inches and lines.

I fear you’ll make me seem like not me – unaligned.

But what if it were different?

What if it wasn’t the same?

What if my bodily thoughts didn’t rule all my ways?

The body is a vessel.

A machine of its own.

What if our bodies were simply that?

A vessel.

A machine.

Not a means to compare?

In this world, our bodies are looked at.

They’re judged and compared.

We’re forced to believe that our bodies are a means to be shared.

But- our body is a vessel.

A machine of its own.

It takes us through life.

It helps us grow.

It isn’t a means to judge and compare.

It’s a vessel to get us from here to there.

Our vessel is precious.

It takes on many shapes, molds and forms.

Our vessel is precious.

For it, we shouldn’t conform.

It shouldn’t be judged.

It shouldn’t be compared.

It should simply be a thing that takes us from here to there.

So, please, remember my friend

Your vessel is precious.

It is perfect on its own.

It takes you through life.

And makes your personality shown.

Your vessel is precious, and so are you.

If we cling to that - we’ll surely get through.
