The economist Adam Smith had a famous metaphor where invisible hands guide the market. He stated that each person "intends only his own security; and by directing that industry in such a manner as its produce may be of the greatest value, he intends only his own gain, and he is in this, as in many other cases, led by an invisible hand to promote an end which was no part of his intention."

The metaphor demonstrated the mechanics of free markets and its ability to prosper a nation's economy. It also predicted the cringe yet inevitable creator economy, where people pursuing their own interests on the internet could unintentionally gain wealth, not just for themselves but society. The web is evolving by invisible hands contributing to open source protocols built on blockchains. For those unaware of what blockchain does: it brings potential abundance of wealth by introducing digital scarcity. The prosperity of such technology will come from invisible hands guiding the market. Many people have yet to understand this.
