Here are some commands to customize Midjourney's prompting and variables to match your desired aesthetics.

How to Use the "/prefer option set" Command:

1. Initiate the Command: Begin by typing /prefer option set

2. Choose a Shortcut Name: After the command, add a space and then type the name you'd like to assign to your custom set of preferences. This name should be unique and memorable to you, as it will be the key to quickly applying your settings later. Let's use "Mine"

3. Specify Your Preferred Settings: Following the shortcut name, include the settings you wish to save. These can range from image quality to aspect ratios, or any other customizable settings offered by the Midjourney bot.

Example Command:

To put this into practice, let's say you often need high-definition images with a specific aspect ratio for your projects. Instead of manually entering these settings each time, you can create a shortcut for them:

/prefer option set mine --hd --ar 7:4*

This example command does the following:

- Shortcut Name: "mine" - This is the name you'll use to quickly apply your saved settings in the future.

- Settings Included:

- --hd: This flag sets the image quality to high definition, ensuring your generated art is of superior clarity and detail.

- --ar 7:4: This sets the aspect ratio of the generated images to 7:4, offering a specific dimensional preference for your artwork.

By setting up this shortcut, you effectively save a considerable amount of time and effort, allowing you to focus more on the creative aspects of your projects. The next time you want to use these settings, simply type /prefer mine, and the Midjourney bot will automatically apply the high-definition quality and 7:4 aspect ratio to your prompt.

Using Your Custom Parameter in a Prompt

  • Applying the Shortcut: Once you've created your custom option, you can use it in any prompt.

  • Example: If you type /imagine prompt vibrant California poppies --mine

Deleting a Custom Option

  • How to Remove: If you want to delete a custom option you've created, use the same /prefer option set command with the name of the option and leave the value field empty.

Listing All Your Custom Options

  • Viewing Your Shortcuts: Use /prefer option list to see all the custom options you've created. You can have up to 20 custom options at a time.

Purpose of 'Prefer Suffix'

The /prefer suffix command is designed to enhance your user experience by allowing you to append a set of default settings, or 'suffixes,' to the end of every art prompt you enter. This automatic inclusion ensures that your preferred artistic nuances are consistently applied to all your creations without the need for repetitive manual input.

Setting Up a Preferred Suffix

1. Initiate the Command: Start by typing /prefer suffix in the chat where the MidJourney bot is active.

2. Specify Your Suffix: After the command, include the specific parameters that define your preferred artistic settings. These parameters could involve adjustments to lighting, style, color, and more.

Example Usage:

/prefer suffix --uplight

With this command:

- --uplight: Automatically enhances the lighting in your generated art, giving it a brighter or more uplifted appearance.

From this point onwards, every art prompt you issue will inherently include these settings, ensuring a consistent output that aligns with your aesthetic preferences or project requirements.

Restrictions on Setting Preferences

It's important to note that the /prefer suffix command only accepts specific parameters recognized by the MidJourney bot. These parameters are designed to modify the art generation process in various ways.

- Accepted Example: /prefer suffix --no orange ensures that the color orange is excluded from your generated artworks.

- Not Accepted Example: Using a format like prefer suffix orange::-1 is not permissible, as the "::" syntax does not conform to the recognized parameter format.

Resetting Your Preferred Suffix

If your artistic direction changes or you wish to experiment with different settings, you might find it necessary to remove your previously set suffixes.

How to Reset:

To revert to a clean slate, you can use the /settings command within the MidJourney bot's chat interface and select the 'Reset Settings' option. This action will clear your preferred suffix, allowing you to either set a new one or manually input settings with each prompt as desired.

By mastering the 'Prefer Suffix' feature, you can make your interactions with the MidJourney bot more efficient and tailored to your specific creative vision.

Simplified Guide to Midjourney Bot Parameters

  • Aspect Ratio: Use --aspect or --ar to change the image's aspect ratio.

  • Chaos Level: Adjust with --chaos <0–100>. Higher numbers yield more unique and surprising results.

  • Fast Mode: Use --fast to quickly process a single job in Fast Mode.

  • Image Weight: Set with --iw <0–2>, balancing image prompt importance against text. Default is 1.

  • Negative Prompting: Use --no to exclude elements, like --no plants to remove plants from the image.

  • Quality Setting: Choose with --quality <.25, .5, or 1> or --q <.25, .5, or 1>. Higher values increase rendering quality and GPU usage; lower values decrease them.

  • Random Style: Add randomness with --style random. Choose from different Style Tuner lengths like --style random-16, --style random-64, etc.

  • Relax Mode: Use --relax for a single job in Relax Mode.

  • Repeat Jobs: Use --repeat <1–40>, or --r <1–40> to redo a job multiple times.

  • Seed Number: Control starting visuals with --seed <0–4294967295>. Same seed and prompt give similar results.

Fun Updates

YInMn Blue or MasBlue

YInMn Blue, also known as "MasBlue," was unexpectedly discovered by Mas Subramanian's team at Oregon State University while examining materials for electronics, marking the first new blue pigment in over 200 years. The pigment, notable for its brightness and stability, emerged from manganese oxide heated to around 1200 °C, revealing potential beyond the initial electronic material focus. With properties such as high UV absorbance and solar reflectance, YInMn Blue has surpassed traditional pigments like Cobalt Blue in various tests, leading to commercialization by Shepherd Color Co. This discovery has not only expanded the palette for artists and applications in reducing cooling costs but also spurred further research into a spectrum of stable, heat-reflective colors.
