Introducing Pods RSS

Pods now creates an RSS feed for every podcast on the platform.

This allows anyone to follow and listen to any onchain podcast directly in your favorite player – including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts (now Youtube Music), and many more.

You’ll get notified when there’s a freshly minted episode and you can listen directly there.

Additionally, hosts now have the option to submit their Pods RSS to Spotify, Amazon Music, and other syndication platforms or podcast players.

A New Unlock for Onchain Media

We’re thrilled to introduce this novel feature to onchain media.

Generating an RSS feed helps bridge the gap between the onchain and offchain world.

Listeners can now retain the same experience with their everyday podcast player by following an onchain feed via Pods RSS. Hosts can also simplify their tooling by adding the RSS to their normal syndication platform (LibSyn, Podbean, etc.).

Second – podcast hosts now have a self-sovereign RSS feed with permanent storage.

The RSS is generated from the metadata associated in each podcast’s contract.

These contracts are owned 100% by the creator. Pods never has control over any of these feeds (unless given permission!) and the RSS can easily be recreated at any point using the metadata from these contracts.

Notably - all of the media is stored on Arweave, providing permanent storage as a critical backup solution for all podcast content.

What podcast players are supported?

  • Apple Podcasts

  • Google Podcasts/Youtube Music

  • Stitcher

  • Pocketcast

  • Overcast

  • Pandora

  • PlayerFM

  • iHeartRadio

  • Many more :)

👉 Note: For Spotify, hosts can submit and track their RSS feed via their Spotify dashboard.

How do I follow an onchain feed?

You can the follow an onchain feed by adding the RSS link from any podcast on pods.media to your podcast player.

Find the follow button for that podcast on Pods, copy the RSS link, and import it to your podcast player.

You can find more detailed instructions on how to do this here.

More Coming 🔜

Pods is focused on building the platform for onchain podcasts.

There’s a host of benefits that can be realized when publishing your content onchain – whether it’s monetization, analytics, storage, verifiable authenticity, or composability.

Pods is aiming to realize all of these benefits for the growing podcast industry.

We have more plans coming soon on how to continue to bridge web2 media and web3 in a way that creates net new value for everyone.

Stay tuned.
