Introduction
This post is meant to help take you to the next level as a creator! I have been a content creator for about a decade now. Starting out with blogging (off and on, but then consistently for the last 6 years), and then expanding to podcasting and video creation.
While I have only streamed a number of times, I do know about all of the tools you'll need to do it. Moreover the tools to help you grow and create content from your VOD's.
Why Quality Tools Matter
When you're a solo creator, then you need all the help you can get. I used Opus Clip for example to repurpose my 100+ podcast videos, and now I have 1300 tiktoks to share. I make clips anytime I do something interesting in games, and now I have 200+ to share. However framing those clips for a vertical format takes a tool like Crossclip or Opus to achieve.
Not to mention it makes it a lot quicker than traditional video editing.

Broadcasting Software and Long Form Video Tools
OBS Studio
The OG tool for streamers, and still used by most as it is quite versatile. You can even multi-stream if you have the right plugin and bandwidth.
I use the vertical plugin quite a bit too in order to make vertical videos. It is also the best screen recording software, as I tried most of the others. This one just makes it so much simpler.
Then you have what it is actually made for, streaming and recording, which it excels at.
Streamlabs
Not something I've used much myself, as I only tried it out. Before all of the infamy they had, but it seems like they are on the up and up. Really trying to do right by creators, and making an all in one system. Even bought Typestudio to make into Podcast editor to go alongside Crossclip!
Others
Now technically you can use things like Restream, Streamyard, or Riverside.fm for doing things like multi-streaming, or having a well made broadcast. However they aren't really refined for gaming in particular.
Shoutout to the Vertical Plugin for OBS to make making vertical videos, especially shorts, far more easier to do!
Short form Video Tools
These are in order of my favorite to least favorite. Now I want to highlight Opus, as it isn't a gaming clips tool, but it is so good at what it does that you can technically put gaming videos in. Then get a limited amount of solid clips from it. Now it is the only affiliate link on this page, and that is because of how much I like it for my other content.
Just in a gaming scenario the other tools are better, AT THIS TIME.
CrossClip by Streamlabs
Streamladder
Opus Clip
JoinCombo
Clipbot.tv
Automatic Clip Highlight Tools
Since I have not used these tools very much myself, as I don't have many streams to input INTO them, and a lot of my streams were not the games they support anyways.
I can't share my opinion on them, but here they are listed out for you!
Framedrop GG
Eklipse GG
Sizzle GG
Hypeclips
Outplayed
Hypetrigger
Conclusion
I wanted to share with you all that I have found, as I am sure there are a few tools you did not know about before today.
I hope that at least one of them helps take you to the next level!
