This is our final regular newsletter for the summer, and features a video of the guest talk by Kazys Varnelis about the city as a communications medium and strategic military target. In a pleasing bit of symmetry, the guest talk series, which began with a talk about how burglars see the city, ends with a talk about how a nuclear armageddon planner might see the city. Apparently the study of protocols is mostly the study of how to attack cities on various scales from burglary to nuclear attacks. Next week, we will have a special reflections issue, after which we will switch gears to post-season programming. The Summer of Protocols is drawing to a close, but the protocolization will continue indefinitely until morale improves.
