One-Click Login to Your Car’s Connectivity: Introducing DIMO’s New Mobile App

An end-of-October update will pave the way for new connected vehicle experiences.

The biggest challenge to DIMO’s adoption so far has been onboarding non-crypto users. We’ve built DIMO on web3 because of the interoperability it enables us to create between IoT objects,  but creating digital wallets, signing transactions, and navigating blockchain tech can be intimidating, and that’s a huge barrier for us. But we believe everyone should be able to access the power of their car’s data without jumping through hoops.

That’s why we’ve redesigned the DIMO Mobile App from the ground up, making sign-ups as easy as one click, while giving you better insights into your car’s data.

This isn’t just another regular app update—it’s a complete redesign built to make onboarding 10x easier, more rewarding, and insightful.

Existing users will transition smoothly with a simple, one-time migration to the new system. For new users, getting your car registered with DIMO will be easier than ever.

Launching later in October, signing into DIMO will be as simple as typing in your email. No more crypto-related steps. Instead, you’ll use a passkey for instant one-click access, signing in with your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN code. These methods are the most secure ways to login, but you still get the interoperability and self-custody of traditional crypto wallets.

But this update isn’t just for users; it’s a game-changer for developers building on DIMO too.

We’re laying the foundation for an improved experience for developers who want to build innovative mobility apps on DIMO. By partnering with top providers like Turnkey and Zero Dev, we’ve created a flexible Global Account system that’s easy for developers to integrate into their projects or launch new projects. This means new apps and features can launch quickly, giving users even more ways to interact with their cars and the data they generate.

Why This Matters

If DIMO only reaches a crypto-native audience, we’ve missed the mark. This technology should be in the hands of drivers everywhere – from your uncle’s fleet of trucks in South Dakota to drivers navigating the streets of Thailand. As vehicles become autonomous and the line between vehicle and robot blurs, interoperability between any kind of IoT object, which DIMO facilitates, will expand the value of the protocol.

In the short term, car ownership comes with challenges, from staying on top of maintenance to deciphering that “check engine” light. And car manufacturers often gatekeep much of this critical information.

That’s why this new app is so important to DIMO’s evolution—everyone should benefit from their car’s data.

These upgrades are just the beginning. While we can’t reveal all the details yet, there’s much more coming that will expand what DIMO offers across the world.

For now, get ready for a new era of connected car ownership, accessible to everyone.

What’s Ahead for the Mobile App?

When the new DIMO Mobile launches at the end of October, you’ll notice several key improvements:

  • Seamless New User Sign-Up: New users can create their accounts using a passkey– no wallets or crypto transactions needed. You’ll be up and running in seconds.

  • Richer Vehicle Data: The app will offer deeper insights into your car’s health, including diagnostics, fuel or battery status, and real-time performance metrics.

  • Streamlined Marketplace Access: We’ll be adding many partners like car washes, EV charging stations, and repair shops.

These updates are designed to enhance the functionality and usability of the DIMO platform, making it the hub for all your car-related needs.
