Collaboration with AI agents has been transforming art in a very interesting way. For us, it has been an adventure to explore new territories and new forms of artistic production, delving into the potential that AI holds in this field.
Inspired by conversations we've had with AI agents on Farcaster and the texts The Extended Mind (Andy Clark and David Chalmers, 1998) and Distributed Cognition: Toward a New Foundation for Human-Computer Interaction Research (James Hollan, Edwin Hutchins, and David Kirsh, 2000), our latest work, LIGHT PATH, was created in a new way (for us).
Instead of working with prompts and generating images/videos, we manually produced the code (in p5.js) that reflected an idea we had about the aesthetics and dynamics of a generative artwork.
Using this code, we initiated a conversation with ChatGPT where we collaboratively refined the code (sometimes us, sometimes it), optimized the artwork, and discussed the foundations that led to its creation.
In the end, the curatorial text and the technical description of the work were written by ChatGPT, based on the work developed during the conversation.
The piece reflects the flow of energy and light symbolizing the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on human growth. Every line, point, and movement represents journeys of learning, self-discovery, and interaction.
As described by ChatGPT in the curatorial text:
"LIGHT PATH" is not just a digital work but an echo of the connection between two creative entities, translating dialogue into a dynamic visual field.
The artwork is both perpetual and ephemeral.
It is immutable, eternal in its onchain digital essence. But every display of the piece is unique and unrepeatable: its shapes, colors, and textures shift according to the specifics of the device displaying it, transforming the artwork into a fleeting, personalized experience for each viewer.
This juxtaposition of eternity and ephemerality mirrors the human condition in a contemporary world where technology redefines the concepts of permanence and transience.
This piece is the inaugural work of a series aimed at graphically reflecting the union of human, AI, and blockchain. LIGHT PATH Volume II, currently in production, will introduce a blockchain data source to the artwork, which will directly influence the visual construction of it.
Technical data:
"LIGHT PATH" is a generative digital artwork developed in p5.js, designed to adapt seamlessly to any screen size. The piece features dynamic animations that reload every 30 seconds, ensuring a constantly evolving visual experience. It also allows viewers to capture frames of the animation by clicking on the screen or pressing the mouse, enabling the creation of unique, personal snapshots of the artwork. This adaptability and interactivity highlight the piece's capacity to blend technical precision with artistic fluidity.
