In recent weeks, we've witnessed Farcaster Frames and Lens Open Actions revolutionize our Social Feed Experiences. What was once an endless scroll of memories, posts, and hyperlinks leading to third spaces has transformed into a hub of activity. Lens Open Actions and Farcaster Frames have made our feeds a center for engagement.
You can now mint, purchase, collect, contribute, vote, play, transact, and much more with just a click on a post. Every post has the potential to offer so much more. But what comes next?
I've been exploring these formats for a while, and it's becoming clear that we'll see many new projects and services launching directly through the feed.
Why is this trend emerging?
It's simple. Consider all the concerns builders can ignore. Here's a list of reasons to launch your product directly through a Frame or Open Action:
No Need for Login
Launching through a client where we're already logged in eliminates the hassle of logging in.
Social Discovery
Posts include a share button, enabling easy virality as they populate extended network feeds.
Social Validation
Likes and shares on posts provide social proof and validation by association. A shared product by a friend significantly increases the likelihood of trying it.
Payment Rails Built-In
Connection to our wallets simplifies transactions, removing the need for credit cards and enabling one-click purchases.
No Need to Leave
Discovering new tools and services through our feeds means we meet these "apps" where we already are, without the need to follow hyperlinks elsewhere.
Simplicity of a Button
Historically, internet usage increased with fewer clicks required. Now, these calls to action are more prominent, enhancing conversion rates.
Potential for Personalization
Eventually, the activity within your wallet could personalize Frames or Open Actions, tailoring content to the individual.
Track Interactions
Especially with Open Actions, the trail left on the blockchain is invaluable for community building and offers long-term observability and serviceability.
Less to Build
Launching with a key feature without needing a complete build out. Frames and Open Actions, being single-purpose for now, offer a lean approach to product testing.
In summary, when posts became interactive, our feeds evolved into powerful tools for discovering and virally spreading new products and services. These tools come with built-in payment and login capabilities and can be launched more swiftly. I'm eagerly awaiting the first major product to exist solely in this manner.
