The Shifting of Political Power

What happens if the LP goes mainstream?

I really must disagree with all of this sudden support for the Libertarian Party generally, and for Gary Johnson specifically.

Is the Libertarian ticket superior to that of the Republicans and Democrats? Absolutely! Is Gary Johnson better than Trump, Hillary, or Sanders? No doubt.

But, ask yourself: Why are you seeking change through the exact system of subjugation that has carried us to this bleak mooring on the edge of a vast and stormy sea?

Is changing the captain of this ship really a superior course of action to leaving the ship while you still can?

I invite you to resist the myopia seemingly inherent in political action, and to think long-term.

Let's suppose, for some reason or another, the Libertarian party were to ride a wave of ascendancy to mainstream status, and within 8 years the LP is as big as the Democratic Party.

What do you think would happen next? Do you expect that this party will hold true to first principles? That all or even a majority of Libertarian candidates will be vetted to support "the message"? Do you foresee that the Libertarian Party will be uniquely shielded from political opportunists, internal sabotage, and factional takeovers?

Do you really think that it would become some kind of noble struggle between statists and non-statists?

No. That would not be the case at all. After a few years we would be back to the same two party system, both of them ideologically muddled and intellectually bankrupt.

Excuse me for raining on everyone's parade. Politics is not the answer. It never has been and never will be. We don't need a savior to sweep through the District of Columbia and clean up the corruption. We need to reject Washington's right to tell us what to do. Change starts with you and your decision to walk on your own two feet, come what may.
