The Just Build Ethos

What does it mean to /justbuild

JB

JB

What does it mean to /justbuild? It means to just create something and then let the rest follow. Don’t overthink it. You’re a builder.

Not because you’re a creative genius (or maybe you are), but you don’t need to be, we’re all builders. We build art, we build apps, channels, frames, NFTs, brands, ideas, insights, a really BASED take is an act creation.

The creation of the social layer of the onchain internet is a generational event, a fork in the timeline. So much is happening constantly that it’s impossible to track it all alone.

So, don’t be alone, let’s do this together.

We’re a cooperative community, a channel of every day builders and dreamers blasting off in a thousand directions engaging in acts of gathering, discovery, and creation. We have no formal agendas to follow, no tasks lists to check off, no roadmaps to adhere to. Our goal is to create without borders, boundaries, or ceilings, every day.

Our token is called $units, because every act of creation begins with a pixel, a point, a bit, a letter, a block, a unit of one. As we grow from one to every-one, each of us are builders.

Half of our token supply will go to our diamond handed collection of real ones from the IOTA community to bring them over to Base and Warpcast. Over the last 3 years we built IOTA’s largest NFT marketplace, token exchange, DAO manager, launchpad and a web3 enterprise platform, all which are completely open source. So, bringing our community, who supported us during that time, was an important step.

The other half of our supply will go entirely to our active, non-bot Farcaster followers, members of the /justbuild channel. We’re here to build along with all of the builders on Base and Farcaster and to see what a community dedicated to celebrating creators and building every day can accomplish together here. We have taken a snapshot of all current members today (June 8th, 2024 at 19:00 UTC) to establish our first cohort of $units holders.

Additional increases to the supply of $units for things like tipping will be done via a vote of all existing token holders via Aragon.

It's not about just one person, one group. We want to see how far we go, how much and what we can build. Because we believe a dedicated group of builders that puts in the work everyday can create anything, everything.

re: networking blank canvas networking events suck balls. when starting a company, it is much better to work on interesting things in public, and mingle with those who naturally are drawn to you, or are intrigued when you describe it to them. peter noticed me on farcaster because i kept sharing my work here in public. my go-to is to engage/filter online, then spend 1:1 quality time.

People often get lost in things like tipping, and miss the fact that the value of this network isn't the engagement games that tokens play, its the discoverability of likeminded individuals grinding towards aligned goals that makes it truly great. Will 10x as its casts a wider and wider net in the coming expansion of the market.

I'm on the fence with this. I have deffo met some amazing people at events. Perhaps I'm biased because I organise one of the largest web3 conferences in Asia and always have a great time at events, im also a social fiend so I love actually meeting people in person and find I can read/connect with people better in person. But I also have made genuine followers and connections by sharing my progress of my product and getting actual users feedback on social media. A healthy portion of both I think is great.

possible! i’m a bit introverted so it is my perlsonal preference at best. i met all key people either online first or through friends when i look back the past decade

Oh yeah I totally agree and I was not saying you NEED to have both. Whatever feels right for you, is right for you. I'm always happy to bounce ideas off if you need anything in the future :) 20 $DEGEN
