The Art Collector - Edition #2

Upcoming exhibitions across web3

Happy Friday, collectors!

We’re back with the second edition of The Art Collector, where we curate notable exhibitions coming up across web3.

Ahead of a busy next week at NFT Paris there are loads of launches on the docket and you’ll also notice some of these drops allow for co-creation between the collector and creator, which seems to be a growing trend. Never a dull moment in NFT art.

Tons to cover so let’s jump into it:

February 16

EXPANDED.ART - LINE CUBES by Hans Dehlinger

Hans originally created a cubes project in the 1980s using a small pen plotter and now manifests his fascination with cubes through generative art that we know and love in web3. Lots of rich history in this exhibition.

February 19

fxhash - Spellbound by Phoebe Hess & ANS

This exhibition combines personalized on-demand fashion and generative art by allowing the collector to record a voice note that will generate a unique scarf design. As a nice bonus, the design will be redeemable in physical form as well in early March - the ability for collectors to play a significant part in the final output is pretty cool I have to say.

February 20

SkaldaAI - Kingdom of the Dreamer by DocT

SkaldaAI is an up-and-coming curator that I feel has been flying under the radar since their first exhibition in Aug/Sep. They are back, with a collection by DocT that explores fairy tales in vibrant, colorful fashion.

Transient Labs - diaries of compulsive obsessions by tjo

This exhibition leverages Transient Labs’ Stacks creator tooling (ERC-7160) which enables collectors to co-create with tjo via the Story Inscriptions feature, allowing each NFT in this collection to uniquely evolve over time. The old mac motif on the minting site adds a special touch too.

February 21

Verse - Monument by Kjetil Golid

The outputs feature geometric cityscapes made out of building blocks. They are arranged in a variety of aesthetically pleasing ways that speak to the inner architect in me.

February 22

Makersplace - Various

Makersplace place has surely put together some heavy hitters for this exhibition. A couple notables here - this will be ThankYouX’s first drop on the platform and Botto’s inclusion stands out. Botto is a personal favorite of mine due to its experimental nature.

mcbess (link to exhibition will show up on this page soon)

mcbess, who is notable due to their unique and easily identifiable old cartoon style art, is launching a creator-led exhibition on Foundation. More details to come on this one, but judging by their past success with 1/1 releases and collections such as Cel Mates, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

February 27

Braindrops - Seven by RedruM

Fresh off an instant sellout banger with Claire Silver’s corpo | real, Braindrops is back with their next release. RedruM, who has made a name for themselves through their easily distinguishable use of red, has historically focused on 1:1s. They now make their first foray into a large supply collection.

February 28

Art Blocks - Melancholic Magical Maiden by Emi Kusano

I like how Emi brings a unique perspective to the space via her exploration of personal childhood memories drawing from Japanese animation in the 1990s, with captions generated from AI to boot.

Ongoing

Bright Moments Paris - Various

Bright Moments has a good track record of identifying up-and-coming talent and this exhibition showcases the most recent artists in residence.

TBD

Fellowship - THE WAY I REMEMBER THINGS by Andrea Ciulu

Coming off a massive Auntieverse exhibition, Fellowship has been on a roll lately. Andrea’s works focus on how time can change our memories - admittedly I get flashbacks from my childhood when I look at these works - I’m following this one closely as more details emerge.
