Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
In this post, we will simply be reiterating the point made in a previous post which is that:
From the Scripture above, a true disciple of Jesus is one who continues (abide, remains, stays) in the word and meditating on the word is how we remain, abide or stay in it.
Meditating on something causes you to think and be focused on that thing. And if you're consistently and constantly meditating on a thing, then, in a sense, that's where you are; that's what you're dwelling on, that's where you are staying.
Equally true and more importantly is the fact that abiding in the word is simply another way of describing living in accordance with the word and Scripture tells us (Joshua 1:8) that consistent constant meditation on the word of God causes one to live in accordance with it.
Thus, we become true disciples of Jesus, that is, people who live in accordance with the word by consistently constantly meditating on the word of God.
