Ephesians 2:21,22
In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
From the Scripture above, we understand that a temple can simply be defined as the dwelling place of God; it is God's holy habitation.
Now, you may never really understand why it is such a big deal or what it actually means that we are God's temple (1 Corinthians 3:17; 2 Corinthians 6:16) until you pair it with the understanding that God is Spirit (John 4:24) then, being God's temple begins to take on incredible new meaning.
One of the meanings you'll realise is that in Christ, God's overarching design for you and I is that we are built up to become embodiments of God.
Think carefully and deeply about what this means– to become the embodiment of God– and then rejoice!
