Joy

Something you should know

A couple of days ago I shared about delighting in God's word.

Today, I want to pick up from there.

The unpopular truth is, despite the harsh economic realities of today's world and the many vissicitudes of life, delighting in God's word; being excited, joyful and passionate about it, has tremendous practical benefits.

Seriously, contrary to what most people believe, being joyful about or taking pleasure in God's word has both spiritual and practical benefits.

I know this because Psalm 1:3, talking about the man whose delight is in the word of God, says:

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Listen, as a man of God used to say:

ALL things that you'll ever need in your life are wrapped up in the word. Go for the word

In the article, Be Committed to the Word I talk about how we delight in the word.

In fact, in the article and some other articles (there are 17 articles in the collection) I talk about a number of things:

  • What it means to be committed to the word of God p.2

  • The one truth that should and will encourage you to be more committed to the word p.2

  • Jesus' words on how to achieve greatness in life: pp. 27,28

  • What trials (aka challenges) will produce in you if you are a believer. p.3, 36-38

  • Why we all should seek the gift of prophecy and how to express this desire or how to seek for the gift of prophecy: pp. 11-12

  • What you should do when you are faced with trials/challenges and why you should do it. pp.3,36-38

  • How being committed to the word is our life - it's what Scripture expects us to do p.3

  • A simple but profound truth in achieving consistency in your devotion. pp. 6-10

  • How to deal with temptation and the fear of missing out: pp. 39-41

  • How to make ourselves delight in the word of God (more like how to experience delight in the word because I believe as a Christian you already delight in, you just need to know how to make it an experience in your life) p.4

There are more lessons that can be gleaned from the entire 17 articles (the entire PDF is about 44 pages) but I'll stop here for today.
