I love music, but I do not consider myself a lover of music. Although I have a friend who I would consider the biggest consumer of music, because why? He listens to every kind of music across different cultures - Indian, Carribbean, American, African, Mayan, Korean. He lives by music the same way people live by air. Lol.
So I asked him this one time out of the curiosity of cat, interested to know what it was but uninterested by what it is. "Mordecai, why do you even listen to music you can't hear?" And then he pulled me in with his reply "because I may not be able to speak multiple languages, I see no reason why I shouldn't listen them."
In his conclusion wherever there is language, there is music and music is the language you don't have to understand before relating with it.
It was Mordecai who made me pop into conversations with "what kinda of music do you like?" Not necessarily as a judgement of their taste but as an understanding of their personality. It was simple, the kind of music you like tells me more about you than any other social index.
Me, I don't have a favourite type of music, my music taste changes like the chameleon walking through a rainbow spectrum. Any music I fck with, then that is good music, I blame Moddy for this.
Music shouldn't be classified. It is beyond art, science and even culture. Music is the fabric of the universe. Everything contains music and music is very personal. My friend will usually say, "no matter how much music you've listened to, there's a billion more still waiting to be heard." He often said it with a sigh like a man at lost on an island with everything he needs.
Are there people who don't like music? Is there a phobia of music? Music is on a wide scale, very personal.
What is music for you?
