Overview of Farcaster
Farcaster is an infrastructure platform for decentralized social applications (DeSoc - Decentralized Social Platform) with a hybrid structure that combines on-chain and off-chain elements. Activities such as user identity registration (Id Registry, Store Registry, and Key Registry) will be recorded on-chain through Optimism. Additionally, users can use ENS on the Ethereum network as their identity.
Social interactions (social graph) such as casting, posting, and updating profile pictures will be stored off-chain via Hubs—a P2P network—to ensure the scalability of the network. On top of this is an application layer with over 30 projects, including infrastructure projects (middleware) and application groups.
