As the first year of experiments for the Three Ears Attenuation Residency Site comes to a close, I’m thrilled to share how much we’ve accomplished together. This year’s residents brought life, creativity, and fresh perspectives to the off-grid earthship, testing the limits of what this space can offer. The feedback has been incredibly encouraging, and I’m excited to refine and grow the program. To celebrate, I’ve updated the website with stunning new pictures (thanks to the residents!) that capture the natural beauty of the site—check them out and immerse yourself in the high-desert magic.
I’ve added a new series of resident interviews to the website, offering a deep dive into the experiences of this year’s participants. Sasquatch reflected on the personal clarity and creative reset he found during his two-week stay, diving into Web3 concepts and rethinking daily consumption. Curtis shared how the profound silence of the desert shaped his music-making process and sparked new ideas about sound and emergency contexts. Holly discussed the challenges of off-grid living, the joy of peaceful isolation, and her vision for how the program can grow sustainably. Finally, Kyle and Mandy recounted their month-long adventure, tackling hands-on projects and embracing the solitude and creative opportunities of the high desert. Each interview is packed with insights and stories that highlight the transformative potential of this space—don’t miss them!
We’re capping off this year with an end-of-year retrospective community call on Friday, December 6th, at 12 PM MST. This is a chance to reflect on the successes, challenges, and lessons learned, and to discuss the vision for 2025. Whether you’ve been involved with TEARS or are simply curious about the program, I’d love to have you join the conversation. Mark your calendar—I’m looking forward to connecting with all of you!
Looking ahead, I’m also taking fundraising more seriously to ensure TEARS can continue evolving. I’ve submitted the program to the Artizen platform, a funding space for creative projects, and I’m excited to see how it resonates with their community. If you’re curious about supporting TEARS, you can check out our submission here. Every bit of support helps us expand the residency’s possibilities and create a sustainable, impactful future for the program.
Finally, I’m already dreaming and scheming for next year! We’re planning to kick off in March with projects for builders, followed by creative residencies in April. If you’ve been thinking about participating—or want to help with some hands-on site projects—please reach out. There’s plenty of opportunity to get involved, whether you’re a dreamer, a builder, or someone ready to dive into the dirt. Let’s make 2025 an even bigger success. Thanks for your continued support, and I hope to see you on the community call!
