Lake bouquet

We're smelling nature in issue #194 of your weekly poetry shot

Algae and
a hint of sunscreen, then
a distant note of alpine herbs and
molten snow: that's the scent
of the lake.

A morning dog walk, on the boulevard along a lake shore. Not many people are out and about yet in this resort town. A few dogwalkers, some runners and staff at some of the kiosks setting up shop for the day. The sun is shining, the water is calm. And as I look out over it, I take in the smell. It has so many elements. Some of it I can actually detect, some are maybe more evoked memories or images.

In any case, it's a moment of bliss.
