Mini-Apps: A Fresh Experiment on Warpcast 🚀

What’s going on? 👀

Warpcast just launched a game-changing feature for the Farcaster community: Mini-apps!

These nifty tools let users switch from reading a blog post to playing a game, all within the same app. Devs can now create mini apps directly for the decentralised social media protocol using Frames and deep links.

How it works 🤯

Mini apps are HTML/CSS/JS web pages embedded directly into the social feed, much like Farcaster Frames. They allow builders to create interactive experiences, from minting NFTs to crafting polls or games.

While the setup is flexible, it does require more effort compared to Frames. And yes, Mini-apps are a Warpcast exclusive, but they can totally work on any app built on Farcaster.

Bonus: Check out this Cast for a video demo to see it in action!

Why it matters 😊

Mini apps boost user engagement, making Farcaster more interactive and dynamic. Developers can build apps that users can access without leaving the feed, streamlining the experience.

This is a big step towards a fully immersive Web3 social platform, especially with Farcaster's growing user base of around 50K daily users.

What’s next? 🚀
Mini apps will launch from Frames and deep links, with potential for more features if the experiments go well.

Buttrfly App: Now Available on Desktop 💻

The Buttrfly App, a Farcaster and Lens Protocol client, is now live on desktop!

After months of rebuilding, Moe, the great mind behind Buttrfly, has brought the mobile app to the web, sharing the same code and UI across both platforms.

While the alpha version of the web app is basic and still missing some features, it includes all the core functionalities, such as support for channels and frames.

Moe has been working hard to get this version out early to gather feedback and prioritise the most requested features.

The best part? Connecting a signer on Warpcast for Buttrfly is now sponsored, so you don’t have to worry about paying for warps or in-app purchases while trying it out.

At Trust Me Bro, we’ve been huge fans and users of Buttrfly from the very beginning. With its integration with both Lens and Farcaster, and now a desktop version, it’s only fitting to see it expand.

Shout out to Moe for consistently delivering. Give it a try at buttrfly.app and let us know what you think!

Beer Taste: The History & Traditions of Oktoberfest 🍻

What is Oktoberfest? 🤔

Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer festival, held annually in Munich, Germany. It’s a massive 16-day celebration that attracts millions of visitors from around the globe.

A Royal Beginning 👑

Oktoberfest has been around since 1810, when Bavaria’s future King Ludwig invited all of Munich to join in celebrating his wedding. The festivities included horse races and an enormous feast, which grew into the festival we know today.

The Evolution of Oktoberfest 📈

Over the years, Oktoberfest expanded, adding an agricultural fair and carnival courses. Eventually, it became a stage for Munich’s finest breweries, transitioning from horse races to beer tents, and emphasizing Bavaria’s rich brewing tradition.

Modern-Day Oktoberfest 🤓

Despite the name, the festival now starts in mid-September and ends in early October. It’s a showcase for the six original Munich breweries, offering not just beer, but also Bavarian music, parades, carnival rides, and local foods.

Oktoberfest Around the World 🌐

While the original Oktoberfest is in Munich (Germany), it's celebrated worldwide. Some popular locations include Birmingham (UK), Blumenau (Brazil), Denver (USA), Frankfurt (Germany), Kitchener (Canada), Prague (Czech Republic), Vienna (Austria), just to name a few.

Can't make it to Munich for Oktoberfest? Celebrate locally or grab some German food and drinks, and enjoy the party in your own backyard. Prost 🍻

And that's it for this week!
