5 Artists From the UNDRGRND Collection
UNDRGRND DIGS is a periodical feature showcasing artists that the UNDRGRND curators dig. We sift through the social media and NFT platforms to find the best artists waiting to be discovered. UNDRGRND believes in the artists we feature and we will purchase NFTs from each artist featured. Purchases will be airdropped to reward UNDRGRND community members.

The NFT art of Kinda 365 is ambitious. It's as if the artist is re-imagining surrealism for the digital world. Consider Niskala, a recent work described as an abstract god. "I made this by imagining a form that is unimaginable for a human being," says Kinda 365 in the NFT's description. "And this is a god in an abstract form that I can imagine." The art itself sets a winged humanoid figure against a gradient background, surrounded by geometric shapes, attended by a pair of much smaller figures reminiscent of angels. The composition is more sparse than crowded, lending the art a spaciousness that appears as a theme across several of this artist's other works.

It's rare to find an NTF artist whose work is consistently overwhelming. Trip Cozy is such an artist. Everything about the artist’s work overwhelms. Each piece is its own little world; its own trip. Psychedelic color schemes and quasi-organic forms, animated with careful attention to detail, make each artwork into an immersive experience, not unlike the experience of watching a magic spell unfold. Songbird, one of this artist's milder pieces, is a landscape of vibrant colors and shifting shapes. While the piece consists of generative art produced by machine learning, it almost gives the impression of having been produced with colored pencils and manual animation. And each of Trip Cozy's NFTs appears just as sophisticated in its own way.
Cypher Shaman
Matrix Psychotech
Cypher Devotees
Automatrix
Psybonacci's self-described mission of "exploring math in the known universe" doesn't quite capture everything that's going on with this artist. Yes, the work does explore math, but calling it experimental doesn't fully capture the extent to which Psybonacci is pushing the envelope. Of particular interest is Cypher Shaman, a piece that "talks about energy and matter manipulation and how it all connects." Cypher Shaman shows a little figure with a cube for a head dancing with green fireballs. A reflection of this figure produces strange symmetry that draws the viewer in, while rumbling background sound conveys that something important and mysterious is happening. This is perhaps a key to understanding Psybonacci's creations.

A 20-year-old artist from Indonesia, Jasmine seems largely to focus on exposing the beauty of the commonplace. Interior scenes, landscapes, classrooms, and transit centers are given new life with this artist's particular emphasis on color and light. Works like Bus Stop exemplify this theme. A strong anime influence is evident throughout, especially in those rare instances where figures are included in a piece. One of Jasmine's loveliest works is Piano, depicting a piano sitting on clouds somewhere high up in an epic sky. This piano has no player, or perhaps the player is invisible. The overall effect is more beautiful than cute, with a barely-detectable hint of whimsy. The same could be said of all Jasmine's works.
COMMUNITY DIGS: Artwolf

Exquisite Corpse-Sweet Prancer

Artwolf’s work is both reality-bending and captivating at the same time. Exquisite Corpse-Sweet Prancer, owned by none other than Paper Buddha, is a spectacular collage that makes us think of the skeleton and torso of a bird unconventionally, filled with flowers and strawberries. I mean, why shouldn’t it be like that, right? Artwolf also has a Polaroid collection, full of people, places, extraordinary landscapes, and my favourite, the ocean. Looking at the Yucatán Peninsula through Artwolf’s eyes has brought warmth to my soul on this winter day. I hope it does to you too. - The Dude, Bart
