5 Artists From the UNDRGRND Collection
UNDRGRND DIGS is a periodical feature showcasing artists that the UNDRGRND curators dig. We sift through the social media and NFT platforms to find the best artists waiting to be discovered. UNDRGRND believes in the artists we feature and we will purchase NFTs from each artist featured. Purchases will be airdropped to reward UNDRGRND community members.

Oksemdeth #48
Edgar X Mesko #27
Mesko’s graffiti-style paintings showcase his diverse talent and artistic style. Much of his art focuses heavily on eyeballs or being held under a watchful eye. He blends his styles perfectly in Antique Japanese that has a mural feel from the grit in the background right down to the plastering of old newspapers behind the portrait of a Japanese woman bringing the old to the new world. Even in an overdone genre (PFPs) Mesko manages to make his individual characters in Oskem Death unique and feel separate from the mass production world of profile picture characters.
AZAZEL
WILD TEDDY

N.Y.P.D
DAGGER
084
This post-apocalyptic motion art may not be futuristic but rather depict a present that Azazel sees playing out. Many of his NFTs work as comic panels, with cell-shaded characters bursting from their borders, to tell their personal tragic stories of living in a war-torn country. Dagger belongs to a biker gang, or is the entire biker gang, cruelly dispersing justice as a way to save his world from the pain he feels from losing his family. Perhaps the darkest character of the bunch is Wild Teddy, a cyborg Union shoulder from the American Civil War, doling out violence from the days of the wild west. Based on certain context clues, it’s hard not to see these characters playing out an allegory of America’s involvement in foreign wars.

This feature is two for one. Not only are collectors receiving music from electronic music from Discokid909, but they’re also receiving artwork from Ykha Amelz. Applications like Napster and Spotify have forever altered how we interact, purchase music and compensate musicians. How we now view ownership of music over the past fifty years has changed with it. This new format of artists partnering with musicians in NFTs could reinvigorate the next generation to return to buying music directly from musicians removing rather than the middlemen of record companies and streaming services. This pairing is on the forefront of this new era.

Sulkian’s art is fascinating not because of the psychedelic aspect but rather because he refers to it as “Psychedelic Polluted Nature.” Each work, including his series on f(x)hash, revolves around nature themes with modern instruments, tools and chemicals spread throughout the scene. Sulkian brings the technology of pixel art and retro computers into serene scenes of nature as if making a commentary on how we experience nature, or our technological advancements will attempt to “upgrade” nature to make it more appealing while ultimately polluting and destroying it.

MUAK

OVERLOAD
It’s hard to describe Indonesian artist Marventyo’s work better than he does himself, “Dark meaning in colorful ways.” Marventyo manages to stick to this theme throughout his work. In MUAK, we’re given a variety of open mouths spewing a variety of things with a description reading, “Everyone must be annoyed and disgusted by other people's words, which sometimes hurt ourselves. Words or rumors that may not necessarily be true.” The focus on stress and the effect of one’s mental status appears in multiple works and Marventyo continues to work through these dark emotions through a variety of colors for us to enjoy and then empathize with his struggles.
Each UNDRGRND DIGS will feature artists our curators have purchased for the UNDRGRND Collection. UNDRGRND will airdrop pieces from our collection to community members via giveaways.
