Saturn's energy

Chapter #14 - Takes 3 minutes to read.

When Saturn's energy comes into our life strongly three times every 21 years, the first time when we are young and dependent, the second time when we are middle-aged and useful, and the third time when we are old and dependent, and remains with us for 7.5 years, it wants us to learn an important life lesson. It does by shaking our self-importance which we misidentify as Self-Respect.

The foundation of Self-Respect is based on the "Values" with which we live our life. Everything else is Self-Importance, in other words, an image of the self, created by identifying oneself with Status, Money, and intelligence, both intellectual and emotional.

To understand Self-Respect, we need to understand what values govern our life and whether we can uphold them in difficult situations. Only we can reduce our self-respect. What others can do is shake the Self-Importance we give to ourselves.

And suppose we understand this difference and live our values daily or in most life situations. Then, when Saturn comes into our lives, it will test us with difficult situations. These situations will help us realize if the value(s) we hold and live by is still relevant. And also help us identify new value(s) to either include or exclude from our life.

Thus in both cases, we have to face difficult and sometimes unpleasant situations. The difference is that during the seven and half time period, we'll feel confused, and post seven and half years, we'll sharpen the skill of doing the right things, and in the process, we realize change is only constant.

Even divine energies such as Mahadev, Mahavishnu, Ganesh, and Hanuman wouldn't interfere with Saturn's energies. We will have to face the consequence of our actions that were and are done based on certain belief systems.

That said, invoking these divine energies with prayer mantras does help us to develop self-awareness which allows for the proper understanding in life and will enable us to recognize and contemplate on past mistakes and learn from them as well as develop the strength to face the consequences and situations. That's why Saturn is called Dharmraj or Dharma karaka (lord of justice) in Vedic astrology.

And when he moves forward and goes out of our life after seven and half years, he is hoping we've learned our lessons, and if we haven't become a better version of ourselves, he will return again after 21 years to teach us the difference between Self-Respect and Self-Importance.

Saturn is an integral part of our lives, he keeps his eyes on us even if he is not directly influencing us. He is the lord of justice, and he is never wrong in giving justice, he rewards abundantly and also punishes harshly, and in both cases, he keeps a close eye on us to see if we get carried away with the abundance, or are we losing ourselves when being punished.

He is feared by people who live an unethical, immoral life, and a life devoid of the right virtues and values. He also enters our life for 19 years (Saturn return) to both reward us and fulfill all our desires and to teach us the importance of hard work, discipline, humbleness, right thinking, virtues, and values.

Now it's time for some practical tips for cultivating certain attitudes in life to ride this intense wave of seven and half years which comes three times in our life.

(1) Dispose of all shades of Hypocrisy and Dishonesty.
(2) Practice doing things that you Dislike.
(3) No work is below you, and Don't look down on anyone.
(4) Hear, Listen, Understand, Contemplate, and then Speak if necessary
(5) Quit Laziness at all levels - physical, mental, and emotional
(6) Cultivate Humbleness in your nature
(7) Be Open to Life even if it's not to your liking (situations, people, and opportunities)

(9) Help as many people, animals, and the environment with your resources, either with effort, skills, money, or all.
(10) Be Disciplined and Organised
(11) Practise Cleanliness at all levels - physical (body), mental (thoughts), emotional (feelings), and environmental (surrounding).
(12) Cultivate Patience by practicing slowness at the mental level. Doing Vipassana meditation helps in sharpening the mind by slowing it down
(13) Expand the Circle of your Belongingness
(14) Develop a "Letting Go" attitude
(15) Practise all the above tips for life; make it a habit, a second nature of your being, because every small action adds up and helps you become a better version of yourself.

The influence of Rahu (shadow planet - Sun eclipses) can make one embrace negative traits such as arrogance, selfishness, and hypocrisy if someone is living a life devoid of a value system.

Rahu has the power of creating a strong illusion of I, Me, and Myself attitude. Rahu's job is to create desires in the mind, if we are not aware of the influence it has on us it can bring troubles.

Saturn watches the decisions we make under the influence of Rahu and this decides how he brings justice for our actions over the course of our lifetime.

Rahu (north nod) = Endless Directionless Desires
Saturn = Hard work and Discipline
Mercury = Intelligence
Jupiter = Macro Wisdom
Ketu (south nod) = Has qualities of Saturn and Jupiter
Mars = Energy
Venus = Micro Wisdom
