Web3 is the future, but many are stuck at the door. Why? Because onboarding isn’t just about signing up, it’s about making the experience intuitive, secure, and empowering for everyone.
A lot of people seem to use this word a lot, but don't truly understand it
Here’s how we can do better:
What is onboarding?
Onboarding is the process of integrating new users or customers into a product, service, or community. It’s really all about making their experience smooth and welcoming!
Effective onboarding?
It should include simple guides and support to make things easy. When users are engaged and supported from the start, they’re more likely to stick around and enjoy the experience.
Community is key
A strong Web 3 community will guide, educate and support new users. Platforms like Discord, telegram, Twitter(X) spaces often serve as hubs for learning and engagement.
I'll use myself as an example, last year I attended the CCC Ibadan organised by women in Defi. That is where I would say I got onboarded into the Web 3. After that event, there was another class that year and I grabbed the opportunity so fast. Why? Because I was convinced that Web 3 can change my life.
There are many ways one can be onboarded. Example: WID whose aim is to bring as many ladies and women onchain and also building a sustainable community for its members.
In conclusion, Onboarding isn’t a one-time event.
Your job isn't complete by just telling them about a product. Continuously refining the process based on user feedback and changing needs ensures ongoing success
