I hope you're doing well and enjoying the summer weather of 2024! Coming to British Columbia from a subtropical region, I feel this current weather to be like home (still a little less hot). This sense of familiarity brings me to this question: What makes a foreign place feel like home to you?
It is this sense of home and community that we want to celebrate at this year's GranFondo. With bigger participation numbers, larger audiences, and an increase in volunteer involvement, the event is set to be vibrant. As we gear up for the event, we're reaching out to our community. Community Spotlight: YWCA Metro Vancouver
We are excited to announce YWCA as the official charity partner for this year's RBC GranFondo Whistler! YWCA has a unique program called Gear Up, specifically designed for young cycling enthusiasts. This program equips youth with the skills, certifications, and employer connections needed to become bike mechanics. Through this partnership, we aim to help more youth secure sustainable employment in the bike industry.
The 13-week program, free to join, is designed for youth ages 15-30. It provides the skills, certifications, and employer connections necessary to work as bike mechanics.
