Large Impact begins with a Small Step
At times it can be hard not to feel cynical. An ever-increasing federal government deficit, homelessness, obesity, poverty, the list goes on and on...
Where can I even begin to make a difference in the face of these overwhelming problems in the country and the world?
When these thoughts inevitably cross my mind, it becomes imperative to remind myself that every achievement has begun with just one small step.
Vrbs is empowering people across the world to take these small steps. Starting with improving local communities, and ultimately compounding from there.
One incredible example is Vrbs Builder, @houseofdrey. Through the Vrbs Grants program, they were able to construct a toilet facility for a widow in Nigeria that had been living without this basic necessity for years.
Houseofdrey also posted a video summary of the work on Zora, where you can mint and collect the video to support this effort and future efforts just like it!
Vrbs and Meme Culture
We need to make more Vrbish memes...
I continue to reiterate the importance of this topic, because memes are how culture is communicated in this digital age. This past week was an excellent example by the community:
First we had Vrb #201, featuring the internet's favorite baby hippo, Moo Deng.
Even if you're barely conscious on CT, you've probably stumbled across the $moodeng ticker and the absurd amount of money people have bet and made on the meme coin. Auction #201 was well timed by POPOP to ensure Vrbs are participating in the current cultural conversation.
Another viral topic was "phone wallpapers" thanks to the YouTuber and Tech Critic MKBHD. MKBHD, to much online backlash, launched a pretty poorly done pay-to-play wallpaper app.
Jumping on the opportunity, countless artists and brands posted their own wallpaper creations, a little jab at MKBHD one could say. Vrbs had their finger on the pulse and didn't miss their chance!
And last but not least, we had Vrbs Artist, Dakimici, create a full meme through consecutive Vrb Auctions!
Who else is creating memes onchain like this!!
Onboarding
I came across this interaction between Rocketman and an Artist on Farcaster:
which led me to thinking; what is the Vrbs onboarding process? What does it look like from an outside perspective?
and most importantly...
How can we communicate it better?
I won't pretend to have all the answer all the time. So I would love to hear from you on these questions. What is your perspective on the Vrbs onboarding process?
This week, Rocketman also added a cool feature that could help the onboarding process, gifting Vrbs Votes to multiple people at the time of purchase:
