Superfest all summer

Superfest is the Superchain’s DeFi festival. It celebrates builders across the Superchain building DeFi applications and delivering value back to the Optimism Collective.

From mid July to the end of August, the Collective will allocate 1.5M OP rewards to bring more activity across OP Mainnet, Base, Mode, and Fraxtal. Connect to the Jumper Dashboard on superfest.optimism.io to begin participating.

Shape joins the Superchain

Shape, the chain dedicated to creators, joins the Superchain! 

Shape aims to be a place where artists can design, build, and experiment to contribute to the web of creativity. The network is still on testnet but will go live in Q3 2024.

The Superchain Identity is here!

The Superchain Identity, the new identity layer of the Optimism Collective, built on ENS, developed and maintained by 3DNS is live. 

You can now get .super.box and .chain.box identities that integrate both Web2 and Web3 features. Host websites, create emails, send and receive crypto through your Superchain Identity.

Superchain Eco and Kolektivo Labs organized the Superchain Space around EthCC, a collaboration hub for the Collective with roundtables, cow-working and more.

The Superchain Strategy

In this weeks’ Joint House Community Call, Jin Wang shared the Superchain Strategy and Collective Vision. The talk included an overview of the Superchain, how its scaling horizontally, and the top priority for this season: interoperability.

Security Council Elections

The first election for Security Council Cohort A will take place during Voting Cycle #26. Elections are held six months before the actual membership turnover to allow enough time for candidate screening.

Candidates that meet the criteria of reputation, alignment, and technical competency, among others, may self-nominate to join Cohort A by August 14th. Each nomination must receive approval from eight of the Top 100 delegates by August 19th. To self-nominate, create a post with your nomination following these instructions.

The Security Council Election Town Hall will take place Tuesday, August 20th.

Developer Advisory Board Internal Operating Procedures

The internal operating procedures govern the activities of the Board for the current season, which include

  • Reviewing all technical mission applications per Grant Council request

  • Summarizing upgrades and blocking them if believed to be unsafe

  • Give technical feedback and support to other boards

  • Explore ways to support the Collective

Retro Funding 4 results

10M OP were allocated to 200+ projects that deployed contracts across the Superchain on Base, Mode, Zora, Frax, Metal, and OP Mainnet. 

This marks the first Retro Funding round of the year that experiments with metric based voting. In this round, voters chose impact metrics to calculate rewards. Gas fees, Trusted users onboarded, Trusted recurring users, Trusted monthly active users, and Recurring addresses were the top metrics selected by voters.

The top five projects awarded in this round were Zora, Layer3, Li.Fi, Stargate Finance, and Odos. Meet the 207 projects rewarded

Mission Applications Open

Today begins the first cycle of Season 6’s Missions!

The Token House ranked Mission Requests that work towards Season 6’s Collective Intents. Here is the complete list of approved Mission Requests.

The first cycle runs until August 7th and the submission period begins today. From July 18th to July 24th you can apply to approved missions.

You can also attend the Grants Council Office Hours scheduled for every Monday.

Retro Funding 5: Applications open for guest voters

Retro Funding 5 voters will include random sampling of existing citizens together with 30 new one-time guest voters. Guest voters will be selected based on “Proof of work”, meaning code contributions to relevant repositories.
