3 For Write: Protect Your Freedom To Create

Plus Book.io is launching a token

Good Morning Write3 Family!

Coming to you from an uncomfortably muggy Nashville, TN.

Welcome to the Write3 Newsletter. Every Thursday, I share tips and news about the intersection of writing and web3. Now onto this week's edition. Here's:

•1 Write3 Tip
•1 Write3 News You Can Use
•1 Literary NFT Worth Collecting

1. Write3 Tip - Protect Your Freedom To Create

Last week, Elon and Twitter stirred up controversy by announcing limits on the number of views allowed for tweets. This incident serves as a stark reminder that social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, are controlled by the few. Billionaires like Musk and Zuckerberg have the power to censor our creative expression. And that's scary.

Instead of migrating to Zuckerberg's new platform, Threads, I urge you to consider decentralized alternatives that prioritize one thing: Freedom To Create. Here are three platforms worth checking out:

  • Farcaster: One of my personal favorites. Its very easy to use and the vibe over there is immaculate. If you're interested in joining, reply to this email with your email address, and I'll send you an invite.

  • Lens: Lens protocol is an exciting option that seamlessly integrates crypto wallets into your social media experience, enabling easy minting and collecting from your timeline. The only issue is finding invites. But, if you're there, let's connect.

  • Bluesky: Although it has a less web3 feel, Bluesky boasts high-profile users and a promising future.

2. Write3 News - Book.io Announces a Token

Speaking of freedom to create, our friends over at Book.io had an exciting announcement this week.

Book.io, the world's largest web3 book publisher, has been diligently converting hundreds of titles into NFTs. To achieve true decentralization, they're introducing a native token. This token will be used to reward readers and owners of Book.io titles. Here are the key details:

  • Launch date: July 20th

  • Owners of Gutenberg Bibles will have priority access

  • Plans for a "read-to-earn" model

  • A new whitepaper outlining future updates has been released

3. A Literary NFT Worth Collecting - Broadside

Broadside is a hidden gem in the world of literary NFTs. It features a collection of 7,000 unique profile pictures, each with its own story. They have even written a 10-chapter book where each chapter can be paired with your profile picture, creating a one-of-a-kind rendition of the story that aligns with your digital identity.

The exciting part is that soon, you'll be able to print and sell your unique digital book. Broadside grants you full rights to monetize the art and names associated with your personalized story.

Now, that's cool!

**Reminder: Collectors of today's newsletter will mint this piece of Write3 art and also be eligible for a special Write3 Newsletter Collectors Airdrop. Your support allows me to continue doing what I love, and for that, I am deeply grateful. Happy collecting!
