XMTP community receives open source gift from Ephemera

Today, Ephemera, the company stewarding the growth and adoption of XMTP, announced its acquisition of Converse, the simplest and fastest app in the protocol's ecosystem.

As one of its first actions as the owner of Converse, Ephemera open sourced the application layer code. In the announcement, Ephemera CEO Shane Mac stated:

This isn’t a move about acquiring Converse; it’s about building trust with the best developers in the world and aligning XMTP with the values of the entire crypto community.

The move makes the application layer as open as the protocol layer. The truth is that developers don’t just build on protocols; they build on apps, too.
