๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ““ ART JOURNAL: JANUARY 2024

my art through this month and some thoughts about life.

[these series are made to document my art journey monthly, they might be boring and all over the place. read at your own risk]

really wanted to start the 2024 as based as possible, so these are the things i've been doing all january to stay creative and active...creactive?

i set myself a few main quests...
ยท reduce or delete the use of non vital consumable items: alcohol, coffee and god's lettuce.
ยท grind the gym at least 3 times a week and stick to a routine. push further.
ยท create more, with less limits. try new things to enjoy the process and cultivate the patience.

made with prismacolor and posca markers.

during the first two weeks of the month i sketched hard in my new (sketch)book. focused on improving my ability to create something from nothing and be less afraid of the blank page. starting it then seeing where it goes.
so far i'm really happy with how the sketchbook is looking. i do this thing where i just open it whenever i want and start drawing there, so it's all mixed, feels cool.
sometimes i just pick it up, see all the pages and smile about it.

took my art into 2 contests:

on the left: "sitting on my bags". on the right: "broken".

"we love the art" by optimism
for this one i created "sitting on my bags" - a portrait of the memecoins culture. some players end up being strangled by their bags for not selling.
minted it for free on zora, only for 24hs.
this was a huge contest, so there's just a very little chance for me to win (as of today, winners aren't announced).

"CMD+A" by commanda
for this one i had to follow a theme: fracture.
i created "broken" - a heart-broken and mind-broken groupie. but hey, after all, he's staying positive!
i actually purchased a moonbird oddity just to participate in this contest, and i had really high hopes of winning, but i didn't. lmao.

follow me on tiktok, youtube and x.

on another page, started creating short videos. posted 3 cool ones and a couple more (tiktok, youtube and x). they did well enough, i'm happy on how they turned out and i had fun making them.
i want to move on and create longer videos (specially for youtube), maybe one based on this entry...
one of the videos sparkled another side quest: drawing at least 1000 groupies in a canvas.

made with primsacolor and posca markers.

i did 61 groupies so far, so i'm sure it's gonna take some months. it's cool to pick up a long and slow process like this to have as a challenge.

started a painting off a drawing i did in the sketchbook. still unfinished but it's almost there.
it's cool to see all the different versions of it.

from the sketch, to the digital, to the canvas.

started another painting project that took me the the whole last week of january: recreating "broken" into a physical piece.

made with spray, acrylic paint and posca markers.

i had these wooden canvases around, from some old ugly paintings, and they're 1:1 so it's perfect. the wood has some weird textures on it that helped bringing much life to the painting, idk it just feels amazing in person, wish you could experience it!

"broken" physical. 40x40cm. wood canvas.

just finished it and cannot be happier about it, it's too clean and i appreciate that. might be time to switch from traditional canvases to wood ones, i feel more comfortable with them.

joined farcaster, and it brought me life! it's everything somebody like me wanted from x.
it feels so good to be part of a smaller community that cares about internet culture, web3 and art. it feels again (like 2020 NFT twitter and the early HEN days) like i have found another favorite place on the internet.

"arrow of time" - auctioned at superrare.

another super exciting news: i sold the first 1/1 of the year to a new collector! (shoutout tortita!)
made my comeback to superrare with a piece called "arrow of time" in an ode to the tame impala song (you will notice the innerspeaker vibes).
the reserve was 0.25 ETH but there was a solid bid war between 2 gentlemen during the last minutes which ended in the piece being sold for 0.469 ETH (!!!)

another side quest is to start writing more. it's the art form i practice the less, and in this chatgpt era we live in, it's much needed to train it. don't forget you're human after all.
couldn't believe the surprise, i've found about paragraph randomly on farcaster and took it as a sign.
so here i am, publishing my first entry.

january has been beautiful to me, can't ask for anything else after this hell of a start!
stay positive and be open to change. the things will just flow smoother, you don't need any further explanation.

โ˜ฎ peace.
