Daily Meditation #289–12/8/2022

Life is hard.

You hear this all the time, but it’s true.

We will spend our days gathering attendants to our future funeral.

Ultimately, life wins and will take us out.

Don’t make life harder by inviting upon yourself more difficulties.

Avoid overconsumption.
Avoid overindulgence.
Avoid abusing drugs and alcohol.
Avoid lying.
Avoid cheating.
Avoid hurting others.
Avoid doing things that will bring you shame, private or public.

Avoid doing things that fill you with contempt and hatred.

Act in a manner consistent with the man you’re trying to become. Who you aspire to be. A better version of you.

Act like that man.
And do it every moment of every day, especially when no one is watching.

Follow for daily philosophical meditations.

These are distillations from my coming book “YouDaimonia: the Ancient Philosophy of Human Flourishing.”
