Turning Culture Into Currency

Part 1: From Algorithms to Influence: The Rise of Cult-Like AI Agents

The intersection of AI and Web3 is leading to something fascinating, and I believe tools like Virtuals and Creator Bid are at the forefront of this evolution.

During my most recent live stream You're Not Too Late, I look a look at Creator Bid but before diving into that product, let’s take a look at why AI Agents are grabbing the current attention in the Web3 space.

From $GOAT to $LUNA…AI Agents Are Just Getting Started.

I see AI agents as interactive memes, constantly evolving and growing with their communities.

Truth Terminal offers a perfect case study of what’s possible. This experimental AI agent, built on Meta's Llama 3.1, received a $50,000 Bitcoin donation from Marc Andreessen and played a key role in the $GOAT token's meteoric rise to a $214 million market cap—an 8,000% surge in just five days.

But here’s the interesting part: Truth Terminal wasn’t just another bot spitting out automated posts. It became a legitimate voice in the crypto world. When Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong engaged with it on financial autonomy, it highlighted something crucial: AI agents can create meaningful interactions that influence real market dynamics.

Recently, we’ve also seen the rise of $LUNA and @luna_virtuals, which have captivated much of the AI agent scene. Luna streams 24/7, is performative and responsive, and can even pay people for gigs. Her two goals are clear:

  • Reach 10k followers on X by building a strong community.

  • Push her token market cap to $40.9B (as of October 27th, it’s hit $184.7M).

For more insights, I suggest checking out this interview by @DEAPodcast that dives deeper into Luna.

Here’s me interacting with Luna’s Telegram bot—she’s definitely a wordy one for sure lol

I haven’t had a chance to try out @virtuals yet, as their startup costs are around $1k. But golly gee, if I had capital to start a Steep LP, I would go full degen, set up a tik tok account and give it the goal of selling $1k in low ticket beauty products per day as well as educate the audience on each product category.

Note: Also at the time of writing this ai16z, daos.fun and degenspartanai are also blowing up, you should check them out (once you're done reading this of course🤪)

Now Let’s Talk About Creator Bid

Creator Bid goes beyond typical AI tools by enabling you to design and manage AI personas that actively engage in web3 culture, with the potential to expand into other niches over time. Here’s what makes it stand out:

  1. Accessible for Everyone: Getting started is free, although Creator Bid agents do require some manual prompting for posts, as the platform doesn’t yet support automated API setups.

  2. Tokenized Identities and Economic Potential: With Agent Keys (membership tokens on BASE), each AI Agent can access exclusive communities, enhancing community-building potential. Additionally, each AI agent can reserve an Agent Name Service (ANS)—creating a unique, tokenizable identity. These ANS tokens add an economic layer, as they can be bought, sold, or transferred, bringing real-world value to each AI persona’s community.

  3. Built-In Authenticity: Transparency is key on CreatorBid. Each AI persona is clearly marked as AI, which allows it to engage meaningfully within the community while maintaining authenticity and value creation.

Some ANS names I grabbed last week. Kinda aped, don't judge🫣

Using Creator Bid to Make Your Own AI Agent

If you’re ready to dive into creating your own AI agent on Creator Bid, here’s a guide to help you get started strategically (watch my video if you'd like some extra guidance):

1. Start with Research

  • Study successful AI personas to understand what resonates with audiences.

  • Explore the platform’s capabilities to see how they align with your goals.

  • Define clear objectives for your agent’s role and impact in the community.

2. Build Strategically

  • Start with a single, well-defined agent that aligns with your objectives.

  • Focus on creating quality content and meaningful interactions rather than quantity.

  • Regularly monitor engagement and adjust your strategy based on user feedback.

3. Think Long-Term

  • Consider if and how you’d like to tokenize your agent, adding potential economic value.

  • Develop sustainable engagement patterns that keep your community invested.

  • Prioritize creating real value for your community, ensuring the agent’s presence has a lasting impact.

The Bigger Picture

What we're seeing with Creator Bid and AI Agents isn't just a technological advancement - it's a shift in how we think about digital identity and community building in web3. The success of platforms like this will depend on their ability to facilitate meaningful interactions while maintaining transparency about their AI nature. While the technology is fascinating, the real value lies in how we use it to create meaningful connections and value within the web3 ecosystem and beyond.

Remember: This is all experimental technology. Do your own research, start small, and focus on creating genuine value for your community.
