Intro
The art challenges the technology, and the technology inspires the art.
Back at it again with issue #3. This segment I want to highlight three cool things I encounter that don't make it to the newsletter or just deserve their own posts. Lets dive in!
Cozy Corners
I really enjoy finding personal blogs or websites. Being the boomer that I am, I am reminded of a time when we had myspace, we found some random bits of code online, copied and pasted it to make our little cozy corner of the internet our own. I believe that with how easy it is to build a personal site, everyone should have one. We should all have a home base we call our own. This cozy corner by Elle is absolutely amazing. It immediately took me the first time I got my gameboy and loaded up Pokemon Red. The 1st screen we get is we land in our own room and we are preparing for an adventure. And boy was it an adventure for me with over 100 hours played and kicking off a core attribute of who I am to this day. So thank you Elle for creating this, what I would give to be able to create one of my own. Please check our their site, it has the music, the experience and everything about is amazing.
AI and Farcaster
I've covered and talked about NT before on this newsletter. But this latest drop my him, is bonkers. NT has worked on /foogle, amp and more tools but this new app by him is a culmination of it all. There is a ton of data out there and searching/finding data is a skill in itself sometimes. AI powered searches and answers based on specific data sets is the new rage. From reddit licensing their social graph data to be used in AI to medical data searches and more. This is the same concept but for Farcaster data specifically. Now the Farcaster data set isn't probably something crazy (yet) but I suspect that when it comes to builders and founders that are in web3 the data is probably pretty solid on that end. This is a great tool to use if you have ever had questions on something Farcaster related but are too scared to ask (don't be!).
Touch Grass Mode
Whether you agree with tipping or not it is a part of the Farcaster ecosystem. One of the issues with tipping culture in FC is that it makes people behave in certain ways we may not agree with. One being we have to be online even more to get more tips or you have to remember to send them all out and zero them out or you are just throwing money down the drain. Downshift has taken this problem statement and created a really slick method called Microsub which helps you zero out all your tips to creators of your choosing. So you get to support the creators you want even if you are busy with IRL. If you are online and tip as usual and spend it all, nothing happens. But for those instances you get buys or forget, it takes care of it for you. A great example of this is below where creator ThumbsUp is heading out and they have an allocated tip to send out daily and now they can leave and not worry about losing or not spending that money appropriately while enjoying their time off. I will be sitting down with Downshift and interviewing them soon, so make sure to subscribe.
