Cool Shit Spotlight: #4

If you're enjoying my writing, please share my newsletter with your friends in crypto and join the /Area51 channel on Farcaster and my Telegram group.

Before we dive in, no weekly recap this week, I'll do a shorter summary this week on my Telegram channel. Been a bit busy with work, interview content and more. So instead this week, I am dropping another issue of CSS. Let's dive in!

Getting Radicle

Radicle.xyz is something I have spoken about before here but as a refresher the tool is basically a decentralized github repo. The same issues we have with web2 and centralization the same thing can happen with Github. I get it, why is this mfer always being an alarmist. But after the last year or so where people who are developers of decentralized systems and tools have been attacked from the tornado cash team, samourai team, and more the less trusting I am of something that is your livelidhood. Github isn't really known for rampant banning of accounts but they have done it before and they are owned by Microsoft and we have learned is that at some point or another shit can get hairy. And this is the beauty of what Steve built. Steve has created a script that can get your local repositories and back them up to Radicle. He even released a new version in the last couple of days.

RPG Quest

I've been playing this game for a couple of weeks now and even subbed to the hypersub because I have mentioned before I am bullish on web3 games, especially indie game makers and how games can be used to bring more people to web3. The game right now, is still in early development BUT based on discussions with Chase and some previews/feedback I am happy to be on the ground level grinding my way through this game, collecting NFTs and supporting Chase. Season 2 looks like it will be spicy and I hope that some of you will check this out.

Nook V2

About a month ago, Kartik came out with a revamped vision for Nook. This time a bit different than a Farcaster client. I have been using it ever since and I must say that I really like this new direction although I am not sure if the team will continue working on this heavily. What is funny is that this is already instantly a better version of GoodReads which I loathe, it has a Letterboxd feel and it supports Anime and more. I do hope someone continues supporting development of this because having the social graph of Farcaster x actual social content that we all consume is a great way to connect.
