BeavChris

 Hello, we might be live.

BArt-Head

GM!

BeavChris

Gm gm, we're streaming on Unlonely, minting on Base via Zora, blogging on Paragraph, sharing clips on Drakula, presence managed by SeemoreTV, and today we have our special guests for the finale.

We have Bahahaha, who is @king

King

Hey y'all!

BeavChris

Who is joining us today. And we also have Fufu Prophet

Fufu Prophet

Hi hi.

BeavChris

Yeah, I think it is both your first time being on some kind of onchain media and being recorded, right? So it's a very special occasion.

Fufu Prophet

Something like that. Yeah. Actually I did participate in a pizza, what do you call it? The yearly thing? The Bitcoin pizza thing. Yeah. During Covid I saw, I opened up a popup Neapolitan Pizza store, an online store, and I joined the worldwide event and I gave out free pizzas to the neighborhood.

BeavChris

That's cool. Oh, that is so cool.

Fufu Prophet

And I was on like the Twitter space about the people who joined the event and everything like that. Yeah. So maybe this is my second time.

BeavChris

Gosh sadly, we have no free pizza today.

Fufu Prophet

Not today.

BeavChris

Yeah. However, we also have a great sponsor, which we'll tell you about more very soon. Our sponsor today is Interface. One of our favorite apps from wijuwiju.eth and annoushka.eth, our favorite people.

King

I love Interface.

Fufu Prophet

I love Interface.

BeavChris

Yeah. So, um, As we have uh, clickbaited, though it's true, this is our finale episode. And so Art will tell you more about his final decisions and hopefully not bum us out too much. And, yeah, so Art, take us away on the most diva farewell tour on Farcaster.

King

He'll be back. He'll be back.

Fufu Prophet

He'll be back tomorrow.

King

Yeah. Next week.

BArt-Head

Thank you all for joining. It's season two, episode six. We started season two, episode five, sharing some of my best memories of Farcaster, and I wanted to end on a note of my biggest regret on Farcaster and as a farewell, I'm very happy. I have these friends, King and Fufu, who are some of our super friends, super fans of the show and I'm excited to have them on stream to share with the rest of our fans in our community that we've built over two seasons.

It's not for nothing that we got here, but yeah, straight to it. I am leaving Farcaster. I've decided it's no longer the place for me. And my biggest regret is something that happened a while ago, and I haven't really shared it or addressed it or dealt with it. So thank you for joining this long, extended farewell and therapy session.

But very briefly, what happened was back in the bear market, I had just joined Farcaster. I was working at a Web3 startup. Some of our biggest customers were already on Farcaster. I was excited. I get to interact with them on a non business level. And also to see different things that they were trying.

Our product was still in private beta, so we didn't really, all of us joined, but we didn't really talk about our product. We weren't shilling. We were just trying to make connections and friends, probably anticipating that at some point we would do a launch and have 500 signups immediately through Farcaster.

BeavChris

Oh, what was this project?

King

Yeah.

BArt-Head

Oh, I was at a startup called Starlight. And

BeavChris

oh, the Balaji one Is a Balaji startup. Is that the one

BArt-Head

It was? Not, not seeded by Balaji, but it was seeded by several pretty big names and it's no longer around and I'm no longer there. So we all came to Farcaster and we didn't really have that much to offer except for making friends, supporting people, trying things out.

So one of the things I did was, I downloaded Interface and it was Awesome. Because I could snoop on people's addresses without doing too much work

King

I love Interface.

BArt-Head

Like you just set. Yeah, you just set a watch for these addresses. And as soon as something happens, you get a little notification on your phone. It's semi public.

So watching, the other person knows that some address is watching them and can figure out who it is. But it's not intrusive and it's not a privacy stealing in any way. And so that was one of the products I watched and I was watching like different accounts on Farcaster as well as people in the crypto space.

One of them was Vitalik. One of the first things I do on any social network is see what Vitalik is doing. He was my first follow on Farcaster. And I set up super notifications so that whenever he says something, Warpcast should let me know that he said something on Farcaster. And on Interface, I followed his account because, if vitalik.eth is moving funds, that's a possibly market moving event. And I found out that, really cool, he posts on his blog every couple of weeks. But through Interface, I got a heads up of maybe eight hours before anyone on Twitter knew what he was talking about. Because Vitalik is very particular, everything he does is onchain and provable because he's concerned about spoofs. So he will do a little bit of onchain action with his ENS to show that he's linking it to a,

King

IPFS URL.

BArt-Head

To his blog post so you can confirm it's actually him. So he updates and Interface tells me, Vitalik is posting something. So like he's, if he happens to be in Asia, in the middle of the night, I get a ping on my phone and I can, if I want, be ahead of everybody else in Europe and the U.S. in knowing what he is talking about and anticipating what the reaction might be. So that was really fascinating. And I started following some other people, including 0xen, who is the artist behind the FarCats project, as well as many other things. And he was a very active early user on, in the early days on Farcaster.

FarCats, I discovered was a really cool project and I was late to it because a lot of people on Farcaster already had it. So I didn't have any. But I thought I'm going to look for the right opportunity to mint it or buy it. And in the bear market, gwei had been falling and gas was like sorry, gas had been falling and it was like 11 or 12 gwei.

And things were really dead. If you guys think Farcaster gets dead, things were really dead, in, a year and a half ago or two years ago. And 0xen said on Farcaster, hey gas is really low. Respond to my thread and I will give you a FarCat.

BeavChris

What?

BArt-Head

And I see this. I did not see this at all. I didn't like, I wasn't paying attention.

Like I wasn't on Farc, I wasn't on Warpcast. I think at that time, I was only on desktop. There was a desktop app, not even

King

Was, did FarCat come before Degen? I was actually not paying attention.

Fufu Prophet

Yeah.

BeavChris

Yeah. I think

Fufu Prophet

Way before.

BeavChris

Yeah. So are you saying that Interface gave you a good investment opportunity because you were able to hop on

BArt-Head

Absolutely! I knew this from the start because wijuwiju is like the most active user on Interface and dogfooding it. And you could see different memecoins, sh1tcoins, apes, YOLOs, of wijuwiju if you choose to follow.

Fufu Prophet

He trades a lot of sh1tcoins.

BArt-Head

We all know and it's, it's really cool because it's proof that if you're a founder and you actually use your product you can find the features that are useful.

King

I started using this strategy today with Interface.

BArt-Head

Yes. Yeah for certain accounts, so but 0xen was moving lots of FarCats and I saw who they were moving to and it was like people that I followed and hoped would follow me back on Farcaster and they were very low FIDs, very large followings at the time, like 200 followers or 150 followers.

I don't know, Fufu, do you remember, did you get a FarCat at that time?

Fufu Prophet

I did not. I'm a dog, dog person. I didn't need any FarCats.

BArt-Head

You’re a dog person!

Fufu Prophet

Yeah.

BArt-Head

He was giving them out and different people were getting them. I was like, Oh, this person got another one. This person has three now. And they're getting them for, I don't remember if it was free or if 0xen was saying, Hey send me a very low amount and I'll send you a FarCat. I think it was free.

Fufu Prophet

Yeah. There were a lot of opportunities where it was free.

BArt-Head

He was giving 'em out for free. He was like, gas is so low, let me give them out to whoever's around. This is proof that you are here. And that to me is another really interesting thing about the FarCats holding community.

So I replied to the thread. I think the thread had 30 replies before me. I was like, Hey, me, here's my address. And, and crickets, like nothing. So I was like, oh, and then I saw other people, maybe like he went for a poop or he went to take a dump, he took his phone down. Maybe he went to sleep. I don't know.

So I was waiting. And then I saw he was sending FarCats, like on Interface, he was sending FarCats to other people. Like, man, this kind of sucks. I read the thread and other people say, Hey, here's my address. It was like, great. So thank you for, for supporting the project. Here's a FarCat. It was like, wee, everyone's happy.

So I, what do I do? So I respond again, maybe you missed this. Here's my address, like nothing. And around this time, I had suspected that I had been shadow banned and there was no talk, there was no talk about shadow bans. It was maybe some people were whispering or joking about it. I heard some, I heard the word shadow ban.

And they were jokes. People were joking about it. It's ah ha. There's no way there's a shadow ban. We're in web three. This is Read Write Own. This is crypto based. Vitalik is here. How can he support a place where there's shadow bans? And I had suspected that maybe I had been shadow banned because this was not the first little game that people had played where I had tried to participate. And Nobody was interacting with me, and

BeavChris

I didn't realize this was a supervillain like, origin story this whole time.

BArt-Head

Yes, the origin story!

Fufu Prophet

Was there a mute function at that time?

BArt-Head

No. There was a report function.

Fufu Prophet

Oh yeah report.

BeavChris

Dawufi's spamming skill issue in the chat. Like, so, so what happened?

 BArt-Head

Yeah so, so I was thinking there's no way I was shadow banned, but maybe. It's such a small group. I had annoyed someone because maybe I can be annoying sometimes. Unlikely, but it's possible and

BeavChris

No way

Fufu Prophet

Unlikely.

King

No way. Art being annoying? No!

BArt-Head

And at this time I was very like, I was a good soldier, representative of my company like it was, I was casting just to engage, To be a reply guy, to, to be the useful soldier Conversational Liquidity Provider [Ed. note: he said something different in the stream] that the network needed.

King

Were you spamming or shilling something?

BArt-Head

Zero spam, zero shills. What I was doing was, I was liking a lot of casts. And I was replying to a lot of casts to the point where I was uncomfortable, but I thought, Hey, like it's important to reply. And people like Ted were saying, just cast more, just reply. We welcome it. But I thought well, maybe I, I stepped, you know, I went over the line and some people got annoyed and I thought there was either just a group of cool kids that said, you know, this guy, let's just, let's just all be quiet when he walks in the room and maybe he'll walk away.

King

This guy's not cool enough.

BArt-Head

I thought maybe it's a skill issue. And I thought well, or um, maybe I was shadow banned for lots of reports because uh, my jokes are not funny, again, skill issue and my social skills are undeveloped and inappropriate for this particular group of knuckleheads [Ed. note: he said something different in the stream]. And I thought well, you know, I want a FarCat!

So I, I messaged 0xen. Privately. I said, hey, dude, do you see my messages? And they're like, no answers. And so I went on Telegram, I found him on Twitter. I messaged with Twitter. I found him on Telegram. I messaged with Telegram.

BeavChris

This is really your simping era. I've totally missed this.

BArt-Head

I found him on XMTP.

BeavChris

Oh god.

BArt-Head

Like, hey man, like, I want a FarCat.

King

I want this FarCat.

BArt-Head

And it was free and I really dug the project already. It was like on my list of stuff. And finally, you know what I did? I bought a FarCat, like I spent money, and I shared it in the thread as if it was the one that he gave me.

BeavChris

Oh god, that's so sad.

King

Oh, come on!

BArt-Head

Everyone was like, hey, I'm part of the club, here's my FarCat. I was like, hey, I'm part of the club, here's my FarCat. And then at the bottom, cause I'm all about full disclosure. By the way, I minted it.

King

He's a good lawyer.

BArt-Head

And, and then 0xen replied to me, yeah, I see your messages. And then I was like no, no, no, no, no.

What I really mean is, DO YOU SEE MY MESSAGES? AM I SHADOW BANNED? He's like, yeah, I see your messages. I said, am I shadow banned? He didn't like, he didn't know what I was talking about or he chose not to. And then he sent me a FarCat. So I got two. I bought one and I got one for free by participating in this little game

And I was like, oh, cool. I have two now.

And it was my first verification that something was off with my account and there were all kinds of questions in my mind. Is it a skill issue? Am I annoying? Am I, do I deserve to be here? Should this be the place for me? And at the same time, there were mixed messages like, Farcaster Is Open For Everyone. We are going permissionless, if you guys remember. All of us, I had an active badge by the way, I had an active badge and I was shadow banned at the same time.

BeavChris

Wait, so I'm a bit confused, but like right now there's no proof of your shadowbanning in your story, if 0xen says that he can see your messages. So there is no proof that you were ever shadowbanned.

BArt-Head

Okay so I'll keep going. At the time, nobody knew the shape of the shadowban, and people were afraid to speak about it because they might get shadowbanned. Everyone thought we're like one of the first 500 people here. Why F it up by rocking the boat? This is going to be great. Who's, who's going to speak up

King

Talking about shadowbans

BArt-Head

By the way, who gets shadow banned? only the annoying mooks [Ed. note: he said something different in the stream] so you know, we're better off without them, but there are all these messages about Farcaster is open for everyone and we're about to go permissionless, Let's get the network ready.

If you guys remember they gave out invites. Each of us got 10 people that we could invite, and some people got a hundred people to invite, which were like, you don't have to be a friend of Dan anymore. You don't have to be in that little group. I got invites.

Fufu Prophet

Oh, that's where I first met you, right?

King

Oh, you invited

Fufu Prophet

I did a gate keeping,

No, no, no.

Um, We interacted on uh, Warpcast. Right. I gate, yeah. Yeah. We did some gatekeeping NFTs. And then you asked me like, uh, yeah. [Ed. note: when Fufu met Artlu 😍]

BArt-Head

I'm sure.

Fufu Prophet

Hold on.

BArt-Head

That's probably, yeah, around, that's probably when we first interacted, but I made a DeForm app. This is before DeForm was a big deal. I think they, DeForm had their first partnership with Coinbase already, but it was not like as persistent across the ecosystem as it is now.

I made a DeForm survey and posted it on Twitter. I said, Hey, if you, and I think I posted on Telegram too, if you want an invite to Farcaster, fill this out. I have this many, I will give them out in order, like no gatekeeping, just first come first serve. Just give me, I think your Twitter handle or sorry, give me your email address and your wallet address, and I'll enter them into the form so you get an invite

And. Oh, so I got them and I said, if I, when I get more, I'll get more. And I got so many messages, like nice begging messages. Please give me, please like really nice personal, but begging messages. I really want in. And I gave them out and then I ran out. It's like, sorry. I responded to every single person.

I'm sorry. I'm out. But when I get some. You are number 12 on the list of 30 and I'm going to get more. And then I went through and I gave out more and I posted on Twitter.

King

Where did those people come from? Where did you post the DeForm link, on Twitter?

BArt-Head

I put it on Twitter. So whoever has access to the internet via Twitter, I thought would be welcome on Web3 social.

And in reality, a lot of them came from Indonesia. A lot of them. Some of them came from Iran. Some of them came from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan. Like I met people. I met people all over the world. Some people came from Africa. I don't, yeah, some people came from America.

BeavChris

So you’re like, it's like that immigration game where you're like the one sitting in the little booth. Like turning people's asylum applications away or something.

BArt-Head

Yeah. So I was responding to every single person on Telegram. And they're like, so many of them were like, dude, I'm a farmer. What are you doing?

Like, why are you spending so much effort? And then I was like, welcome, please come join us. And, and meanwhile I was shadow banned and people were not seeing my messages, but if you had followed me, like Fufu, I think you had followed me. And so you were still seeing that I was active.

BeavChris

I still don't get, how do you know you were shadow banned at that point?

BArt-Head

So, So I, I just started getting more and more, collecting more and more proof that some people could see me and some people could not see me. And then I discovered because someone had shared it or something that you can go in private browsing onto Warpcast.com and see that there's a game going on and then your cast does not show up there.

BeavChris

Oh, yeah, I think that still works.

BArt-Head

And I saw, Oh, I've been shadow banned. That's the, there are certain things that have to work because they have to work, and that still works. So I realized, Oh, I was shadowbanned.

And people were asking me, like Justin who sponsored us last week, he's, like, Hey um, I don't understand why your casts are not getting the same engagement that some of the other people who joined around the same time are. Like we, we had a bunch of us that were relatively new and we were on Ildi Ghostlinkz, his weekly newsletter of frequent casters [Ed. note: https://warpcast.com/~/channel/outcasters Look ma, the algo is currently showing just. my. cast in the channel!]. And that was one way of getting followers was to just cast a lot to show up on Ildi's list of valuable contributors to the network. And I was on there and the other people who were on there were getting so many more followers and, people would go look for me, but they would not find me.

And Justin was like, I don't understand why you're not getting as much engagement. And I was so ashamed. Like I couldn't tell him that I was shadowbanned. I was like feeling it's because it's my skill issue. I think I'm not funny. I'm not interesting. I have very little.

BeavChris

KMac just called you the Cesar Chavez of FC. So

BArt-Head

So my biggest regret is at the time I questioned whether I was funny or valuable or interesting or worthwhile. And so I didn't tell people. And I think I asked KMac, Hey, 'cause he was in Purple and he was loud. He like, he was a guy who would not be afraid to like, say sh1t. And I think I asked him like,

King

Good old KMac

BArt-Head

Are you getting my casts? And he was like, yeah, I am getting your casts. Keep going. I was like, cool! I got encouraged. I reached out to various people, am I doing something wrong? And they're like no, keep, you're doing, you're great, man. And so then I thought, I'm an old dude. I've been around.

I've worked at a company with 100,000 people and have known how to navigate. This is a startup with 10 people. How can they possibly figure out how to keep me out? So I made a friend who was one of the new joiners in the Warpcast team. I made a friend with him. I was like, I followed him. No one knew that he had joined or no one cared.

King

Who is this?

BArt-Head

I'm gonna keep it quiet because he helped me out.

King

It's classified.

BArt-Head

He's got a name that unfortunately, a lot of people would not follow because his name is not, it's clearly not an American name. And so I made a friend, I was, I was helping him out and I was uh, also asking him questions, engaging with him.

King

Okay, it's Ran Domero.

BArt-Head

And trying to, yeah, it could be, so it could be Ran Domero now. So I was um, I was both helping him with things that he was talking about and also asking him for help with my issues with Farchiver and then I was like, all right, I've hooked him. This is the same thing you do in a big company.

You make friends like, with the people at your level or below, and then see if they'll try to help you. And I was like, Hey can you just check my account? I think there's something wrong. Cause first, can you, I said, can you check other people's account? I'm running Farchiver. I'm finding all these issues with hubs, networks, not syncing with each other.

Is it the hubs or is it me? It's most likely me. I'm an idiot. I'm just a baby. Please help me out. And he did. He was like, no, it's your problem. It's not our problem. Okay, cool. Thank you, sir. Can you check my account out, please?

King

You called him a sir?

BeavChris

Like S-E-R, ser?

BArt-Head

I'm sure I called him sir. I'm sure. I'm sure I did every, I tried everything I could to butter up uh, and be ingratiating and friendly. And then finally, he confirmed, yes you're marked as a spammer.

BeavChris

Aww.

BArt-Head

But it's clearly wrong. He, he himself said, but it's clearly wrong.

BeavChris

Okay.

BArt-Head

I can't fix it, but let me get it fixed for you.

King

I don't get it. They, they had a filter already back then for spammers. I thought that was like a recent thing.

BArt-Head

You thought so, huh?

King

Yeah, because I thought back then they had a select number of people who would be favored on the feed, but the rest just, they're not spammers, they're just not preferred on the feed. That's what I thought was the mechanics of the feed back then.

BArt-Head

Yeah. When I joined, that's what was told to us as well. And they said, oh, there is a very small number of people who are nerfed and then there was a kind of a shadow, if you will, space of

Fufu Prophet

Wasn't there like a Dune query for that, right?

BArt-Head

I never saw and at that time, I don't believe there were Indicators, if there was any way to, to identify it at that time. So I don't remember one. If you saw one, then I would have liked to have seen it, but no. My understanding was,

King

I understood that the feed was like, it had this bias towards the Faristocracy, so I just spammed the feed with whatever I had in mind, just kept casting because I know nobody cared anyway. Okay. So that's how I got started.

BArt-Head

How's that working out for you?

King

I don't know, I don't care too much, but people seem to be liking my posts.

BArt-Head

Yeah, so I like that both you and many other accounts that came after me have been able to do that. And have been able to, to spam the feed and not get blocked or not give up. And I re-... and so to wrap up, through back channels, this person went to the only two human beings that could take me off the spam list and they took me off.

And there has never been any communication between me and any, either of those two about. It's like a, I know what you did and you know that you did it to me, but we're not going to talk about it.

King

You're a legend.

BArt-Head

And then uh, either DWR or V took me off of the spammer list and they always have this over me that at one point they put me on the spammer list and they took me off.

There was zero way I could get off the spammer list without a human intervening and making a determination as to my worth. So my takeaway is anybody who is, who thinks they are not a spammer, but has been marked as a spammer. It is not an algo that explains why you are still there. It is a combination of human judgment, indifference, and scale.

It is not that some algorithm is poorly written and you haven't figured it out. What you haven't figured out is how to work a system.

Now at this time, I had in my tagline that I was uncensorable, and in reality, I was uncensorable because two human beings chose not to censor me. It's not like there was anything innate in the system or the construction or the technology that kept me from being censored. And so my biggest regret is that I haven't been able to share this out of a mixture of, shame, disappointment, some optimism of, Hey, I can be the change I want to be. And things are getting better.

I see King thriving and I think maybe it's okay. In reality, there are, human beings who are one tenth the skill of King at sh1t who should be on Farcaster and they have a really hard time. King can fend for himself or manage avoiding the spam list, but there's many people who are less skilled, who still have value to add and or do not have the particular mental illness that we, the four of us on screen have.

King

Thanks, guys!

BeavChris

So I guess what we're trying to say is that if Art chooses to leave us, King, you are actually carrying, I don't know, like the sword with your sh1tposting, like you represent everyone else at this point.

King

I'm sad that Art is leaving.

BeavChris

Yeah,

BArt-Head

So I've given up. I think this will not change. And the different product decisions since then have reinforced this idea that Warpcast is being built as a status as a service network, which requires keeping people out in order to maintain its value.

And it's clearly being built protocol second product first, which is a product for normies who by definition do not care about things like decentralization, free speech. They just want something that's

King

high quality signal.

BArt-Head

It's either entertaining or makes them money. And if becoming entertaining and making them money means compromising on values of decentralization, of course, for normies.

And, I joined Farcaster with some hope of building a space where this kind of evil could not be possible. You can't be evil in this way, but it's clearly possible. And

BeavChris

I'm pretty ignorant about this, but isn't what Cassie is building closer ethos wise. I don't know. I feel like I have Q experts in the house here.

BArt-Head

I'll let the Q experts speak.

BeavChris

Yeah.

King

Oh, Cassie

BeavChris

You are the Q expert, King

King

I'm not. I'm not. I just made my nodes. Qulibrium, Cassie's building a decentralized internet and she said some time ago that yes, you can, she's working, the Q company is working on making Farcaster data work on Quillibrium. So if you're building Farcaster applications you can do it on Quillibrium as well. Yeah, that would be exciting to see. I actually haven't made up my mind how it would work or how I as a builder would build on it. Because 2.0 is yet to be released and it's going to be released in two days or so.

Cassie's put a new date. She's doing some tests for mainnet right now before actually releasing it, the full product and then I can do some building on it. Right now, I'm just running a node and I can't really do any building yet because I know it's going to change and not until the full product is released.

I'm going to try it out. We'll see. I think it's very exciting.

BeavChris

So like, when I see these occasional Cassie ragecasts,

King

I support her, I love her.

BeavChris

Guns and butter. Isn't, I always think, Oh, isn't this what Art wants? In terms of uncensorable, blah, blah, blah.

King

Have you

BArt-Head

it is 100 percent what I want.

BeavChris

Yeah. So

BArt-Head

It's ironic to me that Cassie is, finds Coinbase to be insufficiently values aligned. And has landed at Warpcast. It's very ironic to me.

BeavChris

We all need day jobs.

King

Cassie's fully heads down on Quillibrium. She's brilliant when it comes to dev. It's so good. So good.

BeavChris

Yeah, and sometimes you gotta be in the belly of the beast to figure out the new way.

BArt-Head

That's one reason why I've stayed so long. Is, I wanted to be the change that I want to see.

BeavChris

Yeah.

BArt-Head

I get that.

BeavChris

Fufu, what are your thoughts on this extremely long vulnerable share?

Fufu Prophet

Have you tried Nostr, Art?

BArt-Head

Nostr is one of the things that I will try. What do you think of Nostr?

Fufu Prophet

I don't know. I didn't get any traction from it, so I lost touch about six months ago. I tried to use it. It's all about zapping, Lightning, and it's too techy for me. It's all dev talks. I'm not a dev, so you are a dev, you might connect over there.

BeavChris

You will find your people over there.

BArt-Head

Yeah, I read about it yesterday because Lyn Alden put out a blog post about Nostr. And I look, I tried to find out what their DAU were. And my takeaway is, yeah, it's a very dev space. Things are even more decentralized than Farcaster protocol. And that's, that's been their challenge. They can't move as fast because it's so decentralized. Warpcast can move fast because they are sacrificing some decentralization.

King

And what did they talk about? Are they talking Nostr development stuff?

BArt-Head

They're just talking protocol level things, still working out because the protocol is meant to be super simple and censorship resistant all the way through.

And on top of that, they have no money. So unlike Warpcast, which just raised a lot of money that everybody can see, Nostr is like every so often, eventually Jack Dorsey throws them some, a chunk of BTC. There's no airdrop coming. So they don't have the farmer incentive or the farmer problem. And that's also not

King

There’s no tipping?!

BArt-Head

They do have tipping.

BeavChris

Oh!

BArt-Head

It's yeah. Sending money to incentivize quality content is entirely there through Zaps. And it's, you have to actually use real BTC. It's not,

BeavChris

Oh gosh,

BArt-Head

it's not just ETH. But

Fufu Prophets

People are still giving out free zaps, so it's still early.

BeavChris

Oh, okay. Okay. I got it. You reserve my username. I bet my name's already taken.

Fufu Prophet

That means

BArt-Head

It doesn't matter because it's on a private keypair.

BeavChris

Oh, okay. Okay. All right, yeah, let's all make our account now and add each other so we have a little gang going.

BArt-Head

Your instinct of reserving an account is so centralized, Christin. What do you mean? What do you mean someone else can own your name? Or take it away from you? Or keep you from having it? What do you mean by that? Aren’t we in Web3?

BeavChris

This is whole like decentralization stuff. I really don't really understand. But okay. So you're moving to Nostr and I guess we

BArt-Head

So I read about, I spent 10 minutes reading about it yesterday. That's it.

BeavChris

Yeah.

BArt-Head

What I really am looking forward to is going to Bunches. Which is a social network that Derek Brown, who is on Farcaster, built. It's all about sports. All sports all the time. And, anytime you get, it's a sports social network.

BeavChris

What is it called? Bunches?

BArt-Head

Yeah, like bunches of grapes.

BeavChris

Oh okay.

King

How do they moderate the casts there? The posts there?

BArt-Head

It's really well developed. It is really well developed. And the cool thing to me is every single online sports internet forum that I have ever been involved with has tons of politics, and opinions and men helping men or men bashing on men

King

Grrrr.

BArt-Head

All like the whole spectrum of interactions is there and it's, it starts off as sports, but you make real deep connections.

BeavChris

I like how like women's sports are just like completely ignored in this entire conversation.

BArt-Head

Actually, a lot of the groups that I have been involved in the past, have had like maybe 70-30 or 80-20 polarization for women's basketball. So there's

BeavChris

Oh yeah, that sounds about right. And will that be e-sports?

Maybe I can get into that. This is one thing where I'm like, I don't think I understand normal sports, but maybe e sports, or I guess except for like powerlifting or something, but that's too specific.

BArt-Head

Yeah. And there's maybe, so there's maybe 80-20 polarization for women's basketball, And there's probably 70-30 or 60-40 polarization the other way for women's soccer, because the U.S. women are so good that they get a lot of fans.

BeavChris

Okay. It sounds like you're, I don't know, maybe Lunchbreak as well, you're just like looking for all these Farcaster social graph-esque alternatives as well. So you're not technically leaving Farcaster, you're leaving Warpcast.

BArt-Head

Bunches has nothing to do with

BeavChris

Oh, didn't you say the found?

BArt-Head

Like I know the founder through Farcaster.

BeavChris

Oh, okay.

BArt-Head

It's a totally different network. Lunchbreak is a way to aggregate your connections across X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Farcaster. So it's, and it's a game where you buy people's seats and you have some utility that's attached to it. So it's not a social network. And then Nostr is just a,

BeavChris

Oh, and then the alpha for Lunchbreak is that there might be something new in August.

BArt-Head

August 16th.

Fufu Prophet

As in I can log in? As in by August, I can log in now?

BeavChris

I know, poor FuFu has been having like all sorts of issues. Did you message Boro directly?

Fufu Prophet

Yeah, twice on different times and he said he's going to fix it, but I don't know.

BeavChris

Maybe it's the same issue as the other thing that we discovered with your account. Okay. I will also bug him.

King

Are you part of the Lunchbreak team, Art?

BArt-Head

Absolutely not. I'm entirely someone who Borodutch has paid to sponsor on this show.

BeavChris

Oh God, yeah. Lunchbreak has sponsored our previous episodes.

King

Okay, I love Lunchbreak.

BeavChris

But I just chatted with May recently, who is on the Lunchbreak team, so it is fresh on my mind.

King

Yeah, I don't know much about Lunchbreak, but you said it now, what it's about.

BArt-Head

We should talk about Interface a little bit more.

BeavChris

I think it's similar to Scoop or, you know, these sorts of social fi things [Ed. note: Lunchbreak]. I think that's the direction they're heading in. But yes but because our sponsor this episode is Interface. We will talk more about them for sure. So I think now is maybe a good time to have our official ad read.

For me, Interface has been a great app to, actually doing the CastOut games where there were lots of mechanics where Nounish Prof had hidden trophies and things like that. And I had to really stalk everyone's accounts to figure out what is going on. So I think like, you know, very much like Art, or even someone like me, who's not actively trading crypto, if I want to really know what's happening, like socially like, you know, the, the Farcaster feed is great, but you know, money is where real things are happening.

So you can see what everyone is trading and you can know what's going on in the space just by having an interface account. And yes, I still continue to stalk Nounish Prof's trades just to see.

BArt-Head

What I really like seeing is there are people who are loud about being degens and you can follow them and see how much their onchain activity reflects their social activity. And there are people who are very quiet about being degens, and you may also discover that their onchain activity is very different from their persona, outward facing or curated. And it's interesting to see the differential. And on top of that, what I really like is Wijuwiju and Annoushka use the product.

So there's often new little features that you think, Oh, somebody just thought it would be nice to listen to the podcast without leaving Interface. And now we can listen to the podcast in Interface. That's a really cool thing to see the composability continue to get built out. Thank you.

King

That's cool.

BeavChris

Exactly. So I like to call it like the Spotify for onchain media, just because if you try to listen to our show on Zora itself, it might be a frustrating experience. Whereas in Interface, it just feels a lot more native and natural. So yes, and The Nounish Prof also mentioned about how media shows in interface.

So yeah, so please do check it out. Like, you know, Annoushka and Wijuwiju are totally Farcaster native and happy to answer your questions.

BArt-Head

Yeah, thank you so much to Interface for sponsoring us. I also want to just thank again our previous sponsors for the show. There's two seasons. Part of it was these two viewers only. But now we have, now we have many, many viewers.

I am sad to be leaving but I am grateful for all the attention as well as sponsorship and money that have been coming through our hands. We've tried to deal with it transparently, everything is going through our wallet.

King

But you're the, going to create an alt account, right, Art?

BeavChris

Yeah!

BArt-Head

My plan is no. I have shared in a cast. Somebody asked about my alt accounts. So I shared in a cast all of my accounts. And, people can trace those wallets and the activities in those wallets. And see if they ever create a new one. My plan is no. Things of course change, as in crypto they do change. I'm sure my friends will continue to interact with me on different media.

My preferred one, by the way, is through my GitHub, but Telegram is okay as well.

King

Okay, exactly.

BeavChris

How, wait, how do people interact with you through GitHub?

King

Pull request.

BArt-Head

I Y K Y K.

BeavChris

And are you comfortable with me sharing your Telegram handle?

BArt-Head

Oh, sorry I want to say, if you want to reach me, but you don't know how, because I put my telegram handle everywhere. If you want to reach me, but you don't know how, ask Christin and she will be my filter. And

BeavChris

I don't like how I've actually become your intern in the whole process.

BArt-Head

This is called permission-less internship. And

BeavChris

Like, the intern has been artlu all along. I'm not doing all the grunt work of uploading clips or whatever. It's been Art

Fufu Prophet

Everybody knows that.

BeavChris

One week when he was on vacation. Um, Exactly.

BArt-Head

Yeah. The intern account is a shared wallet. So both. BeavChris and BArt-Head have, I don't know what it's called, but communal ownership of the Ethereum key.

BeavChris

Oh right, yeah.

BArt-Head

My guess is only one of the two knows how to use it.

BeavChris

Yeah.

BArt-Head

One more thing, if BeavChris doesn't answer you, then you may reach out to Stellabelle, but she may tell you to use Session to reach me. And so I have Session as well.

BeavChris

What is Session?

Fufu Prophet

You have Session as well? What's your, I use session.

BArt-Head

I'll send it to you separately. Session is an anonymous messenger.

BeavChris

Oh, is this a new hot messenger we should all be using? After Signal?

BArt-Head

No, Christin, you should not be using it at all. It's not hot at all.

BeavChris

Why?

Fufu Prophet

It's low key.

BeavChris

Why gatekeep?

BArt-Head

There's a very small group of Farcasters on Session.

BeavChris

Uh-huh

BArt-Head

Yeah it's nice. It's protected by cryptography. There's no blockchain as far as I could tell.

BeavChris

Oh, so you're in group chats there. I'm already excluded from like the Chinese Farcaster WeChat, so I don't even know what else there is out there.

Fufu Prophet

There's a Chinese Farcaster WeChat?

BeavChris

Yeah, I think so? It has been mentioned, and I was asked to be invited, and I was never ever invited.

BArt-Head

I will not say whether, actually, I don't have WeChat, so I'm not in that group. But I will say if I was a Chinese Farcastoororor, and Christin came to ask to be invited, I probably would not.

BeavChris

Yeah, and Naomi's saying that there's also Line Messenger. I'm sure there's these like Farcaster cabals on every single platform now beyond Farcaster.

King

You guys are all over the place. I only have WhatsApp and Farcaster, that's it.

BeavChris

Oh, so disciplined.

King

I have Twitter too, for the meme coin.

BeavChris

Yeah. Oh, actually Art, you do have an X account, and in the chat people were mentioning speaking of centralization, I know that you want to be there, but I'm like, isn't that the exact opposite?

BArt-Head

Yeah, everybody look at my X account. It's just about projects that I support.

BeavChris

So are you going to be active on there? Because that would be the closest equivalent to Farcaster, right?

BArt-Head

X. I have an X account. Like I have a Facebook account. I have a LinkedIn account. I use it for different purposes.

BeavChris

Yeah, but. We all have LinkedIn accounts, but are we on LinkedIn?

BArt-Head

I'm not building anything on X. Like I, I was building various little toys on Farcaster.

BeavChris

Oh, so where are you going to be building? I guess GitHub is the best way to stalk you then. That is true.

BArt-Head

Yeah. So Nostr, I read about it for 10 minutes yesterday.

BeavChris

Okay. All right. I guess.

BArt-Head

I'm not going to build on Quilibrium based on my experience with Farcaster.

King

So you're just going to drop all the Farcaster toys you've been building?

BArt-Head

So the Farcast, my Farcaster toys are built to last 'cause they all collectively cost less per month than the $DEGEN that I've collected. I can finance them for a very long time. So it, as long as they're useful to people, I'll keep them up. I did make one small change to the lite client. So I wrote a pretty lengthy seven minute read about the lite client and how to use it to get from lite client to various actual alt clients. [Ed. note: [cast] and [blog]]

And I am sunsetting the community curation feature of The BCBH Show. Originally I thought it would be interesting to find out what other members of The BCBH Show community thought would be worthy of upvotes and downvotes. I thought a community circle could be useful for finding like-minded content.

Right now there are some bigger experiments going on specifically in the $DEGEN space, where the $DEGEN project is trying to live up to their aspirational goals on their website of surfacing good content. So you can tell that the team is doing things like Jacek said, he's doing an Ask Me Anything. And if you reply in a big long thread, he will sort by the ones that receive the most $DEGEN tips. And so tipping, using an airdrop allocation that is, up to 10K, but maybe less. The question is, can that produce an interesting signal that elevates out of noise using a little element of skin in the game, right, because you have to lock your degen to get a tip allocation, without spending your own. So you're spending other people's money still. And that's interesting. And Liang with Degencast, which is an open source project has just published a paragraph post about the future of curation via Degencast

Which has an element of bonding curves and staking on particular casts. So you can use $DEGEN to express your view that certain casts are worthy of engagement or interest or eyeballs. And the market can elevate and reward people who identify the worthwhile casts. And then there's a big project launching, which is called Moxie, which has mechanisms to try to pay for curation, elevate content that the community finds valuable.

So there's many experiments in, along these directions. And I think the community curation, we can set aside, sunset and, pick up later. But

BeavChris

But didn't you make a Y0b version of the client or something?

BArt-Head

Oh yeah. So Y0bcaster is another little one of the toys. I built three toys for alt clients.

There's one, which is a lite client, The BCBH Show Lite Client 🌟. There's one, which is a cast action, which just redirects from one. If you're in the feed, and you want to see this particular cast in another client, there's a cast action. And then there's Y0bcaster, which is just a link page, which says, there's so many clients to juggle.

So I'm going to show you eight clients and you select the ones you want to see, and you're going to get four big stupid buttons. One button is Warpcast. So if you want to know how to get to Warpcast, press this button. If you want to get to the Lite client and you can't remember the URL, click this button.

It also has some native mobile links. So it will open the native clients, which is really useful for me. And if you want to see this, if you want to go to Recaster, you go there and it just coalesces the different clients. And I just named it Y0bcaster as a joke. This thing also has a Sign In With Farcaster.

So if you sign in with Farcaster, you get all your decentralized bookmarks shown on that same screen. But if you don't, it's just a, it's just a webpage with four buttons.

BeavChris

I guess that's a very long winded way to say that the, they still exist.

Fufu Prophet

Is the fart action button still there?

BArt-Head

Yeah, the farts action is still there. The leaderboard is still live. [Ed. note: here]

BeavChris

Oh, you can still fart on people.

BArt-Head

Yes. So you can fart on people. This again was built to live forever. So you can fart on people. It goes to a leaderboard. The data is very cheap to maintain. The servers are very cheap to maintain. Also, there are these shields. So there's a handful of shields floating around. If you try to fart on someone who holds a shield, The fart bounces back on you and nobody knows who has a shield. There is no centralized shield grantor.

Like I was the shield grantor, but then I've decentralized this. So now the people who hold the Wise King NFT. This is unrelated to a certain King. It's the Wise King NFT. People who hold the Wise King NFT have the ability to move shields from one account to another. And the the inspiration for this was King Arthur and his knights of the round table.

Everybody sits around a circular table. By the way, Dedegen is following a similar path.

BeavChris

Yeah well, we'll certainly miss you in this little roundtable.

BArt-Head

So thank you for your friendship, support, and attention. And tips.

King

if I have to say to you, I'll just put it on the feed. I'm gonna add you on my feed. It's @ art. I have something to say. And then you can check it out while logged out from warpcast.

BeavChris

Yeah.

BArt-Head

Yeah, unless you've been shadowbanned.

King

Yeah.

BeavChris

So sad. Yeah. And there's still one more airdrop that's coming. But it's been slow because I've been slow for all our fans out there as a little commemorative NFT of sorts done in collaboration with Miguel.

We really enjoyed all of you here. Hopefully, I joke about not being Art's like assistant, but of course, reach out to me if you want to find Art. On the various platforms we've mentioned today and and I will still be here. So there will be something new coming up soon.

It's me and Cameron and we have a new show called Skill Issue. So I thought it's really funny.

Fufu Prophet

Oh,

King

Yeah.

BeavChris

So we'll have a lot of the same. Here's the thing, Cameron and Art are actually really similar in the way they are secretly raging in the corner like men in need therapy kind of way about various things happening on Farcaster.

So in that way, they're very similar. However, we're taking it more in the, into a evergreen mindset kind of direction. So it'll be more of a pre recording and we can watch together thing instead of a live stream. But hopefully we can give you the same flavor with a little bit of a Cameron twist.

But, I already made a distracted boyfriend meme with me like, looking at Cameron and then Art looking back at me, so that Art couldn't make this meme before me. But yeah, certainly, I think I hope I speak for all of us Art, if you ever change your mind, It's okay.

Okay. Don't feel like you have to hold to your principle and would not make fun of you for coming back.

BArt-Head

I'm sure you will make fun of me for coming back. Yeah. 100%.

BeavChris

Only in endless telegram messages. Yes.

Fufu Prophet

You'll be back. I know it.

BeavChris

Yeah, I can see in the chat. Lots of love there. Yeah, thank you.

BArt-Head

It's all 🫶 .

BeavChris

So, Yeah. So thank you so much for joining us, King and Fufu today. We'll wrap it up right now because we're on the hour. So Art, I'll let you read the outro.

BArt-Head

Yeah. Thank you so much for joining us. We are streaming permissionlessly on Unlonely. Brian, please like my casts so they don't go into the quiet shadow banned realm in the Unlonely channel.

Our episodes are. Yeah, our episodes are on, minted on Base via Zora, our blog posts are on Paragraph, we have short form video on Drakula, and our online presence is managed by SeemoreTV. We thank all of our fans for joining us and all of our supporters for your support over these two seasons, and uh, goodbye!

Fufu Prophet

Bye bye!

King

Bai!

BeavChris

Bye!

No one:

KMacb in the Unlonely chat:

I know it's late, I know you're weary
And I know your plans don't include me
Still, here we are, both of us lonely
Longing for shelter from all that we see
Why should we worry? No one will care girl
Look at the stars now, so far away

We've got tonight
Who needs tomorrow?
We've got tonight, babe
Why don't you stay?

Deep in my soul, I've been so lonely
All of my hopes fading away
I've longed for love, Like everyone else does
I know I'll keep searching after today

So there it is girl, We've got it all now
And here we are, babe
What do you say?

We've got tonight
Who needs tomorrow?
We've got tonight, babe
Why don't we stay?

I know it's late and I know you're weary
I know your plans don't include me (still here we are)
Both of us lonely
Both of us lonely

We've got tonight, Who needs tomorrow?
Let's make it last, Let's find a way
Turn out the light, Come take my hand now
We've got tonight, babe
Why don't we stay?

We've got tonight, babe
Why don't we stay?
