The DAO is still in the midst of transition, but will be finished soon(TM). Most important are the changes to the membership structure and deadlines for a discount on membership:
BFD Membership Structure
There are three types of membership which will be implemented over the next couple of months:
Flag Curious - Non-voting members with mostly read-only access to our Discord.
Flag Raiser - Full access to Discord but limited governance role.
Flag Bearer - Longer-term members with governance and membership approval responsibilities.
A 'stake' (deposit) in the Black Flag DAO Staking pool is required for Flag Raiser or Flag Bearer membership. The yield on this staking will help to fund ongoing operations, creating a more sustainable DAO.
In addition, there is a social consensus layer attached to these memberships, but the social consensus mechanism is streamlined until the end of ETHDenver. Which means:
Right now there is the opportunity for existing Level 1 Members of the DAO to join Black Flag DAO with a lower deposit (100 USDC instead of 500 USDC) and assumed social consensus (no vote necessary for membership). This opportunity finishes on March 2, 2025.
