Introducing Smart Wallets on Paragraph

Joining the Onchain Summer celebration

We’re thrilled to announce the latest addition to Paragraph: support for Coinbase's Smart Wallets.

We’re big supporters of Coinbase’s efforts to bring the next 1 billion people onchain. Smart wallets are a huge step in the right direction, making it easier and more accessible to create a wallet.

Now, Paragraph can join that effort in making it simple and frictionless for new readers and writers to create a wallet and participate in all the benefits of being onchain.

Onchain Summer

We're excited to add support for smart wallets as part of the Onchain Summer celebration.

If you're a writer or creator on Paragraph, make sure to submit your project for an opportunity to be featured during Onchain Summer.

What are the benefits of using a Smart Wallet?

Coinbase smart wallets allow people to create a secure, self-custody wallet in seconds using a passkey — no need for seed phrases, private key storage, passwords, or third party app installs.

On Paragraph, smart wallets will benefit writers by ushering in a new wave of readers that can easily participate in the onchain economy. Since a lot of writers, creators, and artists start off as readers and patrons, we believe the growth in readers and patrons will also lead to more people publishing onchain.

Both these dynamics can feed off each other, creating a self-reinforcing growth loop and dramatically expanding the onchain economy.

Here are some the tangible benefits of using a smart wallet:

  • The Coinbase Wallet web app allows users to connect multiple wallets and view their onchain assets, including crypto, NFTs, and DeFi positions, in one place.

  • Coinbase offers multiple payment methods to buy crypto and fund your wallet, including ACH transfers and transfers from Coinbase.

  • Wallets work across major L2s and onchain apps (Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, BNB, Ethereum L1, Optimism, Polygon, and Zora).

  • Passkeys can be set up using hardware devices or cloud-based keychains for cross-device availability.
