The SUNNYs

A Superchain Celebration

Today 100+ collaborators across the Superchain launched the SUNNYs. The SUNNYs is an award show, in the fashion of the Grammys, Oscars or ESPYs celebrating onchain artists, developer and community builders within the Superchain ecosystem. What started off as a simple onchain summer event turned into a media event and celebrations with more and more people coming onboard. 540K OP will be given out during the awards.

CharmVerse, Gitcoin, Open Source Observer, The Superchain team, Farcaster and Forbes came together over the last few months to provide product, technology, operations and media support and when we got closer to launch we invited in over 100 teams across the ecosystem to join our Telegram and participate. As an example of what it looks like when 100+ teams come together to promote a common cause, check out the X Trending Page when we launched the teaser on Tuesday.

This is a Celebration by and for Superchain builders.

There is still room to participate if you are interested. If you are a creator, an organization or have a Superchain product and are willing to help provide some promotional support (ie casts and tweets) reach out to me about how you can get involved. We are also looking for for people who want to be Presenters, provide skits/interludes, have creative ideas for award types.

What is the Superchain?

Think of the Superchain as a living ecosystem where different blockchains aren't competing but collaborating. They share resources, coordinate efforts, and, perhaps most importantly, work together to create a seamless experience for users. This isn't just about making blockchains more efficient—it's about enabling them to support the decentralized applications of tomorrow, the kind that could make a user-owned Internet a reality.

Built on the OP Stack, the Superchain unites multiple blockchains under shared principles of security, governance, and values. Another key part of the Superchain is that blockchains commit to share revenue from sequencer fees with the ecosystem. Blockchains on the Superchain commit a portion of their fees to the Optimism Collective who then uses it for OP Stack technology development, research, ops and funding programs including Retro Funding and Grants Council programs.

In the last year, the Superchain reduced fees, increased the speed of the network and resulted in making participating way more fun. In the next year it will accomplish interoperability between the chains. No bridging or switching networks required, it will all work seamlessly and be abstracted for the user.

The SUNNYs currently support builders on the following chains: OP, Base, Zora, Mode, Cyber, Redstone, Fraxtal, Metal, Polynomial, Xterio, Lisk, Kroma, Swan and Orderly Network.

How to submit to the SUNNYs

If you’re a builder or creator on the Superchain, participating in The SUNNYs is straightforward.

Start by registering on the official SUNNYs website through our onchain registration portal.

From there, choose your category, add your contract address from any Superchain network if you are submitting a dApp or your minting wallet if you are submitting media, and let the metrics do the talking. The system, powered by Open Source Observer, will automatically track your project’s performance using a transparent framework. If you aren't generating onchain transactions, you are not left out, choose the Other project type and continue without contracts or wallets.

Then, mark your calendar for September, when we’ll come together for a live-streamed awards ceremony. It’s not just about winning—it’s about being part of something bigger, a collective recognition of the hard work and innovation that’s pushing the boundaries of what’s possible onchain.

Stay Optimistic.
