The (art) Collector's Corner | Issue 2

Hello and thanks to everyone who subscribed last week. It's much appreciated. And as always, any feedback is welcome. 😉

This week, in addition to highlighting a few AI projects that have caught my eye, I spoke with Syrian-Turkish generative artist Bassil Taleb about his upcoming fx(hash) genesis, one I'm looking forward to minting. I've also highlighted some other projects and artists that I'm watching and/or collecting, including my recent favorite three on Zora. In addition, there's an opportunity to help a community member, a list of Farcaster resources and more.

"Avatars of GOA" long-form AI series on Emprops:

"Avatars of Goa #2197"

"Avatars of Goa" is a long-form generative AI project by Ira Greenburg. Released on Emergent Properties as a follow up to the artist's successful 2022 "The Oracles" series, "Avatars of Goa" aims to reinvent the PFP, "from more collectibles to works of art".

Rather than utilizing a layered approach combining predefined bodies, heads, facial features, etc., Greenburg utilizes EmProps' generative AI variable system that, for this project, includes 11 unique traits, with each trait having numerous potential values which are weighted for rarity. Avatars are available to mint for 1 tez each, so there are no entries to barrier on this historical series.

Syrian-Turkish generative artist Bassil Taleb to release fx(hash) genesis:

"Mahsus" by Bassil Taleb

Bassil Taleb, a Syrian-Turkish generative artist and architect, will be releasing his fx(hash) genesis piece, "Mashus", on Wed., March 6. A cohort of the VerticalCrypto Art residency program, Taleb says the series emerged as a reflection on the subtle yet profound ways in which intimacy and touch manifest within the digital sphere.

"I like to explore shared human experiences across cultures, kind of how we are all closer than what we appear to be and especially in the context of our digital lives," Taleb told The (art) Collector's Corner. "[In 'Mashus'], I wanted to focus on a single moment of connection: the intentionally intimate connections we share with those who we care about. So each output draws the effect of these moments in us, their traces if you will."

Along with the fx(hash) release, the project is slated to be exhibited throughout March at Mona, curated by @Kenza. Previously, Taleb's project entitled "Awabid" was released on Alba.art.

Learn more about Taleb on his website here.

Minting/Upcoming on fx(hash):

"Unmanageable" by @robscalera: An animated series that wrestles with the idea of the ever-increasing lack of control of our personal realm. Minting opens March 5 and will remain open until March 12. Click below for more details, to run live, etc. (Minting on fx(hash) on Base.)

"Future Echoes" is a free mint by newcomer Paul Browne:

"Amalgamation" on Objkt.com:

"Amalgamation #14" by Pete Richie.

I saw a piece from this series on @NFTBiker's live feed and dug a little deeper. "Amalgamation" is a 50-piece AI collection by artist Pete Richie that delves into the intersection of posthumanism, where humanity and technology coalesce into a singular entity. Each piece serves as a visual narrative, exploring themes of augmentation, transhumanism, and the blurring boundaries between organic and synthetic existence. What I like most is the collection challenges viewers to contemplate the implications of a future where the distinctions between man and machine become increasingly ambiguous. After collecting #42, I went back and collected #14, which is pictured above.

Minted on Zora:

My recent Zora favorite three, featuring @skygoodman, @tkzs, and @hopi:

ClownVamp bringing 🐶 to Verse:

"PUPPIES"

A new collection by @ClownVamp exploring the future of hyper-personalized media, through puppies. 🐶

Monday, March 4 at 2PM ET.

What happens when artificial imagery is pixel-perfect, infinite, and immediately personalized? When your TikTok feed is not just algorithmically targeted to your exact interests but algorithmically generated in real-time?

In "PUPPIES", the artist explores the optimistic side of this equation to highlight both the light and the dark. A lifetime lover of dogs and, perhaps most relevantly, dog GIFS, YouTube videos, TikToks–and really, any form of cute puppies doing cute things–he imagines what his own feed might look like in a fully optimized AI-future.

24-hour, ranked auction on @verse, presented by Tender.

New on Objkt:

"leila au pays du carrousel" by @romandrits.

Community Member in Need:

"Bulls on Parade" by @shillypreston

A lot of collectors are familiar with the work of Oregon-based artist ShillyPreston, who's recently wound up in a tough spot. Addresses to help are below, and you can find the artist on Objkt here.
