In the world of boating, managing and organizing legal documents and service records can be a tedious task for each vessel. From misplaced boat registries to fragile paper receipts, the traditional methods of handling these crucial documents are far from efficient. At Captain's Yacht Club (CYC), we're on a mission to bring the boating industry into the digital age by leveraging technology of tomorrow's internet.
Boaters face a plethora of challenges when it comes to maintaining and sharing their vessel information. Whether you're scrolling through digital photo libraries to find boat images for insurance or locating all past service records and physical receipts to prepare for resale, misplacing these documents can be costly and time-consuming. If a physical boat registry is misplaced, owners must navigate the cumbersome process of requesting a replacement through their state's department, often incurring fees. Additionally, mechanics typically provide handwritten receipts that are prone to damage and loss over time, or even forgery.
There's also the issue of transparency and ease of sharing information. There's no straightforward way for boat owners to share public vessel information with captains or service records with mechanics. This lack of transparency can hinder the resale process of vessels, as potential buyers cannot easily verify the service and repair history. There is currently no self-service and transparent method for marking a vessel as stolen, which is crucial for preventing resale fraud.
Captain's Yacht Club aims to solve these problems by storing boat information using advanced technology that enables digital ownership and permanence for years to come. While many boat owners might not be familiar with blockchain technology, we've designed our platform to hide the majority of the technical complexities behind the scenes using account abstraction. This means that users can benefit from the security and transparency of blockchain without needing to understand the intricacies of how it works.
Our platform offers an elegant and intuitive interface for uploading boat data, providing boat owners with a seamless experience. One of our standout features is the ability to create sharable galleries, allowing captains to showcase their boats and stories in a visually appealing manner. By digitizing the boating industry, we aim to provide a modern and efficient solution that enhances the overall boating experience.
On-Chain Boat Registry: Secure and immutable storage of boat documentation on Base network (BoatFactory contract).
Account Abstraction: Simplifies the user experience by hiding complex blockchain configurations.
Public Vessel Info: Easy sharing of public vessel information with captains and mechanics.
Stolen Vessel Marking: Allows marking and tracking of stolen vessels to prevent resale fraud.
Sharable Galleries: Digital galleries for showcasing boats and their stories.
Government Data Integration: USCG vessel lookups and mapping tools for enhanced social features and safety.
While our initial focus is on boat owners, we have ambitious plans for the future. We envision expanding our platform to include boat manufacturers, providing added supply chain transparency and tools for increasing resale value. Our platform can also serve as a source of inspiration for vessel modifications and enhancements.
We see the potential for Captain's Yacht Club to evolve into a software development kit (SDK) and expansion of open-source contracts for additional real-world assets. If a member desires, they can choose to use the records created on CYC in their own applications using our development toolkits. We see this as not only limited to boats, but can grow to support other real-world assets and are excited to explore what else would benefit from storing records on-chain.
We plan to partner with document issuers including local governments, mechanics, and boating safety courses.
Our team consists of passionate boaters who are also experts in blockchain technology. We understand the boating industry inside and out, and we have the technical expertise to deliver a solution that meets the needs of modern boat owners. By combining our love for boating with cutting-edge technology, we are uniquely positioned to transform the industry.
We invite you to join us on this exciting journey as we revolutionize the boating industry with blockchain. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to experience a new era of boating with Captain's Yacht Club.

Welcome to the world's first on-chain boat registry and Farcaster club: Captain's Yacht Club Details on membership, voyages, and roles coming soon!
I see our local burgee from SDYC. Not where I keep my boat, but my grandpa had the same slip for his Columbia 50 my entire life...and my mom's.
That's awesome!! Columbia 50s are gorgeous, such a classic hull design and one of the first fiberglass hulls. A worthy west coast sailboat Yeah these vintage burgees are at the Boston Yacht Club
My grandfather and my godfather, who were close friends then became family when my parents got married, both had the 2 nicest C-50's at the SDYC. Gentlemans race every Wednesday 1 pm. Beer Can Race Wed evening. I raced Sabots, Lazers, and Alphas in the Jr sailing program till I was 12. One day I won the regatta, demolished the competition and then handed my grandfather the first place trophy and told him I have to quit cause I'm goin' fishing with my Dad. He said you already fish you can do both. I said nope, I'm goin' fishing every day all summer. Started decking full time when I was 13 and have run everything from sportboats to 100 foot Jones Goodell yachts to my custom sled I have now. I like the Cabo 35' Express I wouldn't mind one of those tbh. Client list includes Dustin Hoffman, several pro athletes and actors. I just like to fish with my friends as crew if I can tho. Good stuff, very cool idea in your channel. I'll make some casts there.
Love that story! Yeah I did the sailing program as a kid and did some regattas but never had the patience for rigging and always wanted to go fast. I'd love to formally invite you to be the second member of Captain's Yacht Club; the first on-chain yacht club and boat registry 🤝 I wrote this a while back but it's been hard convincing boaters unfamiliar with crypto to join. I want all members to be co-owners of the project. LMK if you have any ideas on how to make it better.
