Nouns Cares

The Pros of Cons

The Future of Crypto Conferences and Events

Over the last year, Nouns has participated in and supported various events such as ETH Denver, Farcon, Consensus, BTC Nashville, and EDCON. While these gatherings are great for advancing the future of Web3, the crypto-event circuit needs universal appeal and real-world examples to showcase the benefits of onchain building to the general public, along with opportunities for legacy and commercial brand partners to participate.

Web3 is rapidly growing among builders, developers, artists, and innovative startups, but to attract a new audience and make them feel comfortable enough to walk in off the street and learn about a future onchain, we must demonstrate simple examples of education, art, commerce, and practical use cases that align with everyday people and show how Web3 will move the world forward.

As I write this on a plane home from Tokyo, where Nouns activated at EDCON (and ⌐◨-◨'d Vitalik), my biggest takeaway is how Nouns can help the world of Web3 move beyond its insular focus by introducing opportunities for brands to participate without the risk of launching independent projects that may fizzle out due to a lack of internal priority, teams, or understanding. This approach will create access points and welcoming spaces where Web2 brands can embrace the progress we, as onchain builders, have made.

A solution is to introduce campaigns, experiences, and programs where partners in our network can participate without the risk of launching overly ambitious projects. These initiatives will allow partners to support existing programs, events, and projects, including co-branded campaigns and events and co-sponsoring Nouns-related proposals that align with a partner's mission. This will introduce these partners into our world without requiring them to launch and execute onchain programs that need massive adjustments to their internal and external structures.

Nouns will act as a conduit for partners and brands to join and support while trusting the DAO to do what it does best—educate, execute, and onboard the world with partners that trust us to do the job. At the same time, we can usher in new people who support these partners and their legacy power in the Web2 space.

As we celebrate the ninth anniversary of Ethereum, it has been challenging for legacy brands and the general public to understand the potential of this world. If we want a future onchain, we must embrace real-world building with partners and communities. We aim to build programs and campaigns that support legacy and Web2 brands, offering them an opportunity to lean on our collective expertise to guide them through the space. Through campaigns and partnerships, we can utilize the power of Nouns without requiring brands to reformat their internal structure or calendar around bringing in experts and marketers who might compromise their brand integrity.

This approach will attract an audience through collaborative partnerships, allowing Nouns to build and guide our partners. While events and conferences are essential for industry growth, attracting the general public via legacy partners and brands is crucial for widespread adoption. We plan to achieve this through strategic collaborations and engaging initiatives demonstrating the practical benefits of Web3.

We are excited to start teasing some new partners soon, marking a significant step toward seamlessly and effectively integrating partners into the Nouns ecosystem.
