What Is Ham?
This question is a great place to start. So let’s dive in…
Ham is:
A community
A technology
An onchain tipping token
Ham Is A Community
“Perhaps a meta-intelligence is not a general intelligence in the Turing sense but rather an ability to switch between different types of intelligence as appropriate. This requires some other anchoring- in a task or mission, or an identity, since it is only with reference to something outside the intelligence that judgments can be made about how to organize the intelligence itself.” - Geoff Mulgan, Big Mind
What anchors the Ham community? Memes.
Not memes about actual pigs or deli ham (although some of us - me included lol - misunderstood the initial assignment) but the memes that call back to what got us here as a crypto community and the ones we’re coming up with today.
The best example of this: @based-bren and the Ham Intern. His Pepe-inspired, Ham-hat wearing, coffee-loving frog is the honorary mascot for the Ham community. Bren is fueling the Ham community with memes on an almost-daily basis - and they’re all hamazing.
Bren’s memes, and the ones the community continue to make, help capture and maintain the one thing which all Web3 projects need to survive and thrive: attention. If you don’t have the memes, you won’t get the attention. If you don’t have the attention, then you won’t succeed.
Deployer, the founder of Ham, understands this. He’s reiterated numerous times, but none better than in this way during a Twitter space on the day of the Ham Chain launch:
“Come for the memes. Stay for the tech.”
Yes, Deployer has built incredible things, but the real advantage to Ham is that he understands how to leverage what he’s doing technologically with a passionate memetic community.
Ham Is A Technology
"Ham empowers social connections with fun experiences built on decentralized systems."
If that sounds like the first slide of a pitch deck, it’s because it’s the first thing you read when you come to ham.fun - the second and main website used for everything Ham (not including Hamcaster which gets its own website- https://hamcaster.com)
To understand Ham as a technology we have to go back to an NFT project which introduced Ham in the first place: The Based LP.
The Based LP is built on the Base Network. It gets its roots from The LP, an NFT project built on Ethereum’s main network which was Deployer's first token-backed NFT experiment.
For an in-depth explanation of The Based LP, its unique mechanics, and why it's significant, you can read about it here.
The main thing you need to know now is that $TN100x, the ERC20 token upon which all of Ham is built, was created when The Based LP was deployed. $TN100x (which stands for “the next 100x Memecoin on Base”) was created as a way to reward both buyers of the NFT and the /lp community members on Farcaster.
How were buyers rewarded? 1,950,000,000 $TN100x was deposited in the Based LP smart contract to support a burn-to-redeem mechanism on the first ham website: https://based.thelp.xyz. Holders can burn their NFT here to redeem 60% of the per NFT allocation of $TN100x (currently 294,596.15 tokens). The remaining 40% of the per NFT allocation is deposited to The Based LP NFT liquidity pool shared by the remaining NFT holders. The longer you hold the NFT, the more $TN100x you’ll receive if you burn/redeem yours.
Even if you didn't buy a The Based LP NFT you could still be rewarded as an /lp community member through your activity on Farcaster.
Farcaster is an open-source, decentralized social network. Warpcast, a popular client built on top of Farcaster, utilizes channels (designated by a “/” and whatever comes behind it). This is where creators can centralize their creative efforts and build a community.
That's why the /lp channel was created. It's a place for all things “The Based LP”. Backend data from Farcaster is used to determine every /lp user's social activity. This activity was quantified into a Community Points Leaderboard which reflected the creative and social efforts of the user within the /lp community. The more points a user earned, the more 🍖 they would receive through a daily ham allowance as a “thank you” for helping to grow the community.
As the community grew so did the use of 🍖 for rewarding content, not just in the /lp channel, but all over Farcaster. Ham as an official tipping token was born.
Ham Is An Onchain Tipping Token
Tips are a Farcaster phenomenon. Think of them as a digitally-tracked reward for content culminating in a future airdrop. At least, that’s how they started out with $DEGEN.
Every Farcaster user is assigned a FarScore which takes into account a variety of metrics based on your activity within the app. If you were someone who was very active, sincerely engaged with others, produced the ever-elusive label of “quality” content, and/or contributed to the development of the people and the app, your FarScore would go up.
A higher FarScore meant a higher daily allowance of $DEGEN that you were allowed to hand out to Farcaster users - or “tip”.
Funny meme? "100 $degen"
Interesting article? "200 $degen"
Anyone could tip anyone $DEGEN and at the end of the season, each user was able to claim a 1:1 airdrop of everything they had been tipped up to that point.
At the same time this was going on, Ham was doing some experimenting of its own. After The Based LP mint, a unique way to create value for Based LP holders was created - The Golden Ham.
The Golden Ham was a limited quantity NFT in which allowed owners to lock $TN100x for 90 days and, in return, earn some additional tokens in the process.
Seeing how successful $DEGEN was, Ham launched its own tipping token which would function much in the same way as $DEGEN. The initial plan was to call the token $LP. But why use letters when you can use an emoji that looks just like the NFT your holders just minted?
A vote was proposed to the /lp community: Which would you rather tip with, $LP or 🍖? The vote was overwhelmingly 🍖.
Thus began tipping with ham.
The /lp community started tipping each other 🍖 as a way to reward each other for their content. The more 🍖 you collected, the higher you rose on the leaderboard.
Eventually there would be a day to claim all of the ham that you earned, but unlike $DEGEN which would reward it's community on specified "claim days", Ham wanted it's holders to immediately.
What if ham tips were on onchain? What if, when one user tipped another user ham, it was treated as an immediate transaction? What if users had immediate access to their tips and didn’t have to wait for a “claim day”?
The answer: Ham Chain.
As “an Ethereum- and Superchain-aligned Layer 3 (L3) blockchain” Deployer was able to utilize ETH as its native gas token in order for ham tips to function in a completely novel way: onchain microsocial transactions made possible with a singular emoji.
With the deployment of Ham Chain, each 🍖 a user tips is the 1:1 transfer of $TN100x at an insanely discounted (next to nearly nothing) price - all done while interacting with other users in Farcaster. Among other things, Ham Chain allows users to immediately and securely transfer funds with a single emoji without ever having to leave Farcaster. All a user has to do is put a 🍖 in their cast and BOOM! Wallet-to-wallet $TN100x all happening in the social feed of Farcaster.
So what do you do with all of the ham you’ve been tipped? I’m glad you asked.
Cash It In!
If you’re a Farcaster user and you’ve been tipped 🍖 , you can go to ham.fun and convert that emoji into $TN100x.
To do this, you will need a wallet that supports Ham Chain.
How do you do this exactly?
Go to ham.fun
Connect your wallet
Go to “Dashboard”
Connect your Farcaster account
Under “Ham Stats” you will see a “Convert” button.
If you have ham to convert, then it will show up there.
Bridge It!
If you’re looking to do something (not ham related) with your fresh $TN100x tokens on Base or another chain, you’re going to have to get them off of the Ham Chain first.
If you’re still on ham.fun - great! If not, go back and get reconnected like before.
Once you’re connected, click on “Bridge” at the top of the site.
Under “Bridge Assets” there is a link to Relay where you can bridge your tokens to another chain.
Beware of 3 things!
1. You will have to pay a fee to make this transaction happen. Make sure that you’re okay with the specifics of the transaction before you go through with it.
2. Bridging from Ham to Base will take 7 days.
3. You will have to provide "Proof of Transaction" after you execute the action to bridge your funds.
Swap It!
Wallets like Rainbow make swapping for any token on any of their supported chains super fast and easy.
Want to swap that $TN100x for something else? I wouldn’t recommend it lol, but doing it in Rainbow’s wallet is a fast, fun and easy way to do it.
Fun Fact! Every transaction performed inside a rainbow wallet or with a rainbow wallet earns you points which entitle you to % of a pool of ETH handed out each week.
Only downside to Rainbow wallet - it’s not compatible with Ham Chain - yet. Maybe you guys can let Rainbow know how great it would be to have support for Ham Chain.
Looking to do more with your $TN100x rather than cashing it in? Good. That’s exactly what Hamcaster is for.
Hamcaster
Hamcaster is a unique SocialFi app that takes the concepts of tipping and earning Ham even further. Hamcaster utilizes a precise social ranking system and a daily rewards system to generate a Ham Score for participants within the ham ecosystem.
For users to have a Ham Score they must:
Contribute positively to the /lp channel (not posting spammy or weird ai meat stuff)
Contribute to Farcaster (have a FarScore)
Hold 1 of (or all) 3 types of Ham Assets:
250,000 $TN100x tokens on either Ham Chain and/or Base
1 The Based LP NFT
1 Ham LP NFT
Other factors influence a user’s Ham Score as well, but we’ll get to those in a minute.
Iterating on the unique social ranking system already built into the /lp community through its “ham allowance protocol”, Ham uses Ham Scores and other Hamcaster metrics to determine the Ham Rank of each hamcaster’s caster token.
Caster Tokens
A caster token is a tokenized representation of a Farcaster user’s profile which allows other Hamcasters to share in a user’s Ham Allowance (ham-centric Farcaster engagement) by two primary means: staking and locking. Before that can happen users first have to create a hamcaster account - aka caster token profile.
When a Farcaster user signs up to create a caster token, the user is given the ability to create their own tipping symbol (a customizable cashtag) to represent their caster token. (My Web3 identity and Farcaster username is GEAUX so it was a no-brainer when it came to what my caster token would be $geaux).
When this is done, a new user is given 5M of their own caster tokens for free up front. Users are free to do what they want with these, but it’s HIGHLY recommended that users lock these tokens - the reason why will be discussed in STRATEGY.
Once a hamcaster creates a caster token, the next step is to assign how much $HAM they are going to share with their caster token holders. $HAM is shared in two ways: $HAM Allowance and $HAM Allocation.
$HAM Allowance
Determined by a user’s Ham Score
Ham given to that user to be tipped out over 24 hours
What is not tipped out is burned
Resets every day
Can go up or down based on the user’s Ham Score
$HAM Allocation
This is the “extra” 🍖 that the user receives socially
This 🍖 is $HAM that is backed 1:1 by $TN100x and can be converted as such
There are pros and cons to choosing an allocation and allowance % which will also be discussed in STRATEGY.
Users can also tip caster tokens just like they tip 🍖 on Farcaster, but to do this users will have to convert caster tokens into tipping tokens.
Tipping tokens are swapped-for in a hamcaster’s caster token profile.
You will see two different token options pop up:
your $
your $ with a “t” next to it.
The $ is the caster token, the $t is the tipping token.
To tip your caster token, you have to convert the caster tokens you paid for here.
If you want to convert tipping tokens back to caster tokens, simply hit the down arrow to switch the arrangement.
This section is also where you will go to discover the tipping tokens of other people's caster tokens that you've received. In order to do that, go to that hamcaster's profile, find the "convert tokens" button, switch the arrangement, and convert the tokens they tipped you into tokens you can stake or lock.
If you forget who has tipped you, you can go to ham.cooking - an insanely useful tool created by MVR.
As long as the user has a balance of their own caster tokens, they can convert them into tipping tokens. If a user runs out, they can always buy more caster tokens and then convert them into tipping tokens.
Caster tokens are purchased using $TN100x on Ham Chain. Every time a caster token is bought or sold, a 1% royalty fee is given back to the hamcaster.
This is how the 1% caster token fee breaks down:
0.6% goes to the creator of the caster token
0.2% is burned
0.1% rewards back to top pools and casters
0.1% Mint club protocol fee.
For those ofyou interested in the technical details... Hamcaster utilizes Mint Club’s audited ERC20 bonding curve smart contracts.
Okay - so now that you have a bag of caster tokens, it’s time to talk about what to actually do with them.
Disclaimer...
Everything that is being discussed in this article is not to be taken as financial advice. I am not a financial advisor, nor do I work for Deployer, Ham, Hamcaster or any other Ham-related entities. I’m simply a passionate hamthusiast who wants to help others understand everything being deployed by Ham.
This section might get complicated and confusing. To be honest, I’m still learning how all of these things work. Every day I’m exposed to new insights and tools from both HamQuarters and the community itself. If you don’t get it, or if I do a bad job of explaining something, don’t hesitate to connect with me or another member of the /lp community. There are so many kind, patient, and knowledgeable people who are willing to help out if you’re feeling overwhelmed or mixed-up.
Additionally, this section would not be possible if it weren’t for the /lp community. I will be sharing many ideas and resources that /lp community members have spent a lot of time, effort and resources creating. If you find any of their frames and/or materials helpful, please let them know by sharing their work (and maybe sending a little 🍖 their way 😉).
With that being said, let’s get into it!
Staking vs. Locking
Anyone who’s been around crypto for any length of time will be familiar with the words “staking” and “locking”.
If you’re going to be a successful hamcaster, it’s important that you understand what these words mean as they relate to the ham ecosystem.
Staking
The action of using a caster token to earn a portion of another hamcaster’s $HAM.
Staking caster tokens earns $HAM in two ways:
$HAM received as a % of the caster token owner’s daily $HAM Allowance
Based on the caster token owner’s Ham Score
$HAM received as a % of the caster token owner’s $HAM tips
Based on how much 🍖 the caster token owner was tipped on Farcaster, Twitter, etc. that day.
Locking
The action of casting a vote by “locking up” a caster token for a designated period of time
Every token locked is a vote casted.
Tokens can be locked for:
1 year (at a voting power of 25)
2 years (at a voting power for 50)
If you’re a visual learner, please check out the incredible infographics on the difference between staking and locking created by Cheryl (@reallyryl on Farcaster).
Hamcaster Strategy: RECREATIONAL
TLDR: The simplest way to interact with Hamcaster is…
Get caster tokens
Stake caster tokens
Earn $HAM
“Get caster tokens” brings us to the first STRATEGY question we encountered earlier: What do you do with the 5M free caster tokens you get when you sign up? I have a few thoughts…
Insert standard crypto DYOR; NFA disclaimer here. Formal one is below.
Also, keep in mind that “what happens on the blockchain, stays on the blockchain.” People tend to forget this- especially when participating in SocialFi experiences.
You could stake the 5M.
Remember if you stake your own tokens, that means you’re claiming a % of your own Ham allowance.
If you’re sticking to a RECREATIONAL strategy, I would consider swapping these for $TN100x and using those tokens to buy caster tokens of a hamcaster who:
You know will here for the long haul
Has a high Ham Score
Has their Ham Allowance set to a high %
You could sell the 5M.
I don’t recommend this.
This is the ham equivalent of “looking a gift horse in the mouth.” If you’re not familiar with this saying - I can Web3 it for you. If you dump your own caster token bags immediately, it’s not going to make you look highly amongst others in the /lp community.
Something we’ve seen from people in this space is a slower rug pull. Let me explain.
Let’s say an “influencer” for lack of a better word, comes to Hamcaster. They don’t lock their tokens, they stake them in high daily rewards/APY hamcaster tokens to maximize their gains.
They buy a significant amount of caster tokens as this helps to improve their Ham Score and Ham Rank.
They advertise this on socials to get people to stake and lock their caster token, further driving up the value of their caster token.
At some point, they cash out everything.
The stakers hurt a little because the hamcaster’s Ham Score and Ham Rank will drop a lot, reducing their daily allowance.
The lockers are rekt. They can’t get their tokens out for 1Y or 2Y depending on how long they locked their tokens for.
You could lock the 5M.
If you have a CASTER MIX or ADVANCED strategy, this is the way to go.
Locking these tokens allows you to meet the minimum caster token quantity threshold needed for stakers of your own caster token to receive a % of the 10M Weekly Ham bonus delivered by Deployer each Sunday.
If you plan on getting involved in the Ham ecosystem, then having a valuable caster token is a quick way to gain some ham street cred.
If you’re not overwhelmed yet and you want to try to get the best bang (caster token) for your buck ($TN100x), let’s explore a few intermediate strategies.
Hamcaster Strategy: CASTER MIX
Ok. So you’ve had a taste of how Hamcaster works. You’ve (hopefully) reinvested the free 5M caster tokens back into the ham ecosystem (preferably via locking for 2Y). You know how to buy caster tokens. You’re now ready to discover how to maximize your ROI on each $TN100x you spend on caster tokens while bringing the most value to stakers of your caster token. First, let’s start with how to bring value to other hamcasters first.
Things that make your caster token valuable:
A high Ham Score
The higher your Ham Score, the more $Ham there is for stakers of your caster token to claim.
A high Ham Allowance allocation
The greater the % the more $Ham there is for stakers of your caster token to earn.
A high Ham Rank
The higher the Ham Rank, the more people there are who hodl, stake and/or lock your caster token.
A low number of stakers
The good news for hamcasters is that your Ham Score and your Ham Rank are (mostly) within your control. The two greatest influences on your Ham Score, and, subsequently, your Ham Rank are investing in the Ham ecosystem and becoming socially involved within the Ham community.
Your Ham Score will increase if you purchase:
$TN100x
The Based LP nft
Ham LP nft
$PHAM
Caster tokens
🍖 on Solana (affectionately called “Solami”)
Pro Tip:
Currently, as it is being discovered by the first generation of hamcasters, the greatest influence on a user’s Ham Score is the number of purchased caster tokens and 🍖 (Solami). You can both hodl Solami and stake it on Raydium. Hodling Solami is weighted ~10x that of hodling $TN100x due to the Solami circulating supply being ~1/10 that of $TN100x. Do with that information what you will. Keep in mind that 🍖 in the Raydium LP will not count toward your Ham Score (at least at this time it doesn't).
An often-overlooked factor which influences your Ham Score is your social score. Originally the greatest factor for determining a person’s daily Ham Allowance, this number takes into account how much engagement and content a person brings to the /lp channel.
Pro Tip:
If you’re looking for ways to engage with people in the /lp channel, don’t create odd/weird ai art that features deli ham. (That’s the old meta - if it ever was). Take the time to understand the tech, the current memes and the people who are here. Don’t be who you think people want you to be, just be you. The world is filled with people trying to be who they aren’t. The /lp community just wants you to be you.
Now let’s talk about how to maximize your $TN100x ROI. There are several things here you should consider which can be found on Hamscout - an incredible tool built by an incredibly talented Ham community member: @mvr
APY
Typically understood as “Annual Percentage Yield”
How much Ham you’re expected to earn per day per staked caster token.
Keep in mind, the value of each caster token is different which will affect the ROI
BAPY
“Bonus APY
This reflects how much Ham you’re expected to earn per staked caster token when the 10M weekly ham is distributed by Deployer every Sunday night.
This indicates that the user you searched locked the free 5M tokens
Another factor to consider when purchasing caster tokens is what I like to call “Proof of Ham”.
Is the user providing value to the Ham ecosystem? Are they making memes? Are they casting regularly in the /lp channel? Are they spreading Ham love on Twitter or other platforms? Are they making frames or other resources? All of these things help bring value to Ham and make purchasing that hamcaster’s caster token more appealing.
Hamcaster Strategy: ADVANCED
(Full disclosure - While I’m very knowledgeable about the Ham Ecosystem, I am not an advanced hamcaster. While it’s possible that I could be, I simply don’t have the time and/or technical skills to keep up with the cream of the crop in this space.)
This strategy capitalizes on all of the information presented to this point and incorporates the mind and spirit of a day trader. Advanced hamcasters are highly focused, detail-oriented and timely. They’re willing to stake/unstake caster tokens as needed in order to capture the highest possible ROI, paying attention to trends, and deploying some form of additional tech in order to help them succeed.
Do you have your own caster token spreadsheet? No. That’s a good place to start becoming an advanced hamcaster. Are you logging into Hamcaster daily to track caster token trends? No. That’s a good habit to adopt as well if you’re looking to take your Ham Score to the next level.
Beyond these recommendations, and the strategies illustrated in the previous two sections, becoming an advanced hamcaster will largely depend on how much time, effort and resources you’re willing to employ.
“Ham is inclusive.”
@katkartel
Kat is totally right. Ham is for everyone. You don’t even have to own a single 🍖 on Base or Solana in order to be able to tip and/or receive Ham - you can just tip it. But where you tip (at least right now) is limited to two apps: Farcaster and Twitter.
Farcaster is the primary place for participating in the Ham Ecosystem. Each Farcaster user is given an FID - a unique identifier which helps to distinguish between apps, users and the activity of those users with those apps. FIDs are how Ham rewards users according to their social activity on Farcaster.
Ham enables users to tip in three main ways on Farcaster:
Ham (utilizes Ham Chain)
Example Reply Cast Format:
“GM homie! Have a good one! 🍖x100”
Explanation
The user tipped the main caster 100 $TN100x on the Ham Chain
Floaties (utilize Base)
A floaty is an emoji which represents a predetermined quantity of a specific cryptocurrency which exists on the Base network
Example Reply Cast Format:
“GM homie! Have a good one! 🎧x100”
Explanation
The user tipped the main caster 100 Base-network $mfer tokens
Currently, 1 🎧 = 1 $mfer
Here is a list of every floaty that’s currently available
Caster Tokens (Utilize Ham Chain)
We’ve talked extensively about what caster tokens are and their place within the Ham Ecosystem, but what we haven’t talked about is how to tip them.
Example Reply Cast Format:
“GM homie! Have a good one! $geaux x 1000”
Explanation
When I tip my caster token on Farcaster, what is actually being tipped is a floaty version of my actual caster token.
On Hamcaster, this is denoted as a “tipping token”
This means…
My caster token is $geaux and my tipping token is $tgeaux
To be able to tip your caster token, you have to…
Buy your caster tokens with $TN100x
(Swap $TN100x for $geaux)
Convert your caster tokens to tipping tokens
(Swap $geaux for $tgeaux)
Early on I thought that just because I had swapped $TN100x for $geaux that I was all set up to be able to tip $geaux on Farcaster. It took a kind and private from Deployer to explain that I needed to convert my caster tokens before I could tip them. This is a common, easily made mistake.
FYI - Nothing happens if you try to tip your caster token if you haven’t first converted them to tipping tokens.
It will only look like you’re tipping your caster tokens, but under the hood, nothing is actually happening until you convert caster tokens into tipping tokens.
Ham enables users to tip on Twitter in two main ways:
Ham (utilizes Ham Chain)
Example Reply Post Format:
“GM homie! Have a good one! #ham🍖x100”
Explanation
The user tipped the main poster 100 $TN100x on the Ham Chain
Floaties (utilize Base)
Example Reply Post Format:
“GM homie! Have a good one! #ham🎧x100”
Explanation
The user tipped the main poster 100 Base-network $mfer coins
Caster tokens are not currently available for tipping on Twitter. Additionally, the backend cost to support tipping ham and floaties on Twitter is currently high. As a result, users may sometimes encounter a delay in confirmation of the tip they posted.
Example confirmation post:
Every ham/floatie tip on Twitter is confirmed with a reply by the main Ham account (@HamOnWarpcast)
Marketing Opportunities
Ham is perfect for any individual or company looking to be a pioneer in their respective space/market.
With Hamcaster a user can create whatever cashtag they want (as long as it’s available). This can then be used to tip on Farcaster in order to brand yourself, your product and/or your business.
Here’s an example from an influencer standpoint:
Ryan Boggins: Online Fitness/Lifestyle Coach
X handle: @BoggFit
X #: BFit
Hamcaster play
Set caster token cashtag (based on availability)
$BFIT
$BOGG
$STRENGTH
$FITNESS
Run promotions for staking and locking $BFIT
“Every 1M of $BFIT locked for 2Y = 1 month of free personalized coaching”
Boggins can now use and tip his caster token on Farcaster to perpetuate his brand.
This, in addition to other Farcaster-native tools like creating a channel, can really help him capture new clients and grow in an entirely different way compared to most, if not everyone, in the current online personal fitness space.
Future Internet Stuff
The significance of floaties cannot be understated. Every phone, every tablet, every computer - regardless of its manufacturer - comes pre-programmed with emojis. They transcend culture and break through language barriers. A smiley face is a smiley face if you’re an English-speaking American, a French speaking Canadian, a Spanish-speaking Venezuelan or a Japanese speaking Nihonjin. Everyone understands and uses emojis.
Ham has demonstrated that whether it's your own floaty, or a floaty of another crypto project, using an emoji to securely send funds onchain, wallet-to-wallet, without ever having to leave the social app that you’re in is possible. It’s been done on Farcaster. It’s been done on Twitter. And, it’s my personal belief (no official statement from HamQuarters has been made about this) that Ham will deploy floaties onto other social apps in the future.
Another significant Ham-floaty development is the Onchain Tipping Registry (OTR). While an official interface does not exist for this yet, the OTR enables any ERC20 token to become a tippable token. Read all about it here.
Much like the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), users will be able to register their own floaty. A floaty marketplace can also be expected, but most likely this will be handled by an outside source who’s building on both Base and Ham Chain.
Registration costs 250,000 $TN100x. If you want to build an interface you can charge a fee and receive up to 10% of the registration cost.
Check out the OTR Github for a full example of deploying an ERC20 token, registering a tipping token, and converting the original token to the tippable version here: https://github.com/ham-official/otr…
You can also read more about it here: http://docs.ham.fun/docs/otr/intro
If you can't tell already, I'm incredibly bullish on everything Ham. For me - everything Ham is up only.
Ham tech works, it works well, and it’s fun.
Ham is the first coin that extends the ERC20 standard and introduces onchain tipping coins using emojis. Hamcaster buildt on this concept. All caster tokens have a corresponding tipping token created, convertible 1 to 1 with the original token, but add the ability to tip on Farcaster. Soon, any ERC20 token will have the ability to be tipped on Farcaster.
Ham has given us:
The Next 100x meme coin
Token-backed NFTs
A SocialFi platform
A library of memes
A multi-platform community
Cross-chain rewards
Emojis as payment vehicles
This field guide discussed the history of Ham as it relates to Hamcaster, different strategies you can employ in order to be successful within the Ham Ecosystem and the social implications of Ham across various apps/platforms.

When you ask about/don't know about ham aka $tn100x you also should check out $bnkr and the @bankerbot which are both creations of the one and only @deployer Bankerbot has it's downtimes here on Farcaster here and there because much is being wirked on lately but on X it's a big hype around it right now and many are using it...it's such a nice defai agent and so fun to use you really have to check out all kinds of awesome prompts/queries people are doing with that bot there from simple funds sending to buys/sells and swaps to playing blackjack or battleships with it LOL!
Links from @codincowboy and @geaux.eth here in responses is your best info ser Also helps explain why $BNKR was able to establish a community so quickly
here's the best summary from an earlier thread with dwr https://warpcast.com/deployer/0xa256ad21
Ham is tn100x now It was a tipping coin on layer 3 ham chain and a part of hamcaster
FYI, apparently we all have a token via @stackdotso so you will see $PICHI on Base. This is new to me, it was created for me (aka I didn’t initiate this) but I’m willing to try all the new things. But I also have $PICHI as a Hamcaster token (part of the Ham /lp ecosystem) and I chose to deploy this because I’m all in on anything @deployer builds. https://hamcaster.com/token/234616
Wait, really? How does that work?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It’s almost like @interface is listening to our conversations.
Funny, he mentioned this I was wondering what the hell this was
I’m gonna stay on the sidelines too, agreed Hamcaster is so much better! 123 $AROB
Hamcaster is complex at first glance but it’s really really cool.
Yup, it is! Glad I started my token (my choice), can hold others tokens, plus get some $tn100x yield too. I was hoping when $BNKR blew up more people would find their way to Hamcaster, maybe on its next leg up 🤞
I looked at mine and rabby shows it as a scam token. I also already have some. I'm also willing to try things so I'll spend a little and see
Stack is legit. I chatted with them about their dashboards and they were awesome. The issue was I needed a custom Dune dashboard for my channel to make it work and that was beyond my skill set. @humpty.eth played with it extensively for /cryptosapiens in 2024. It was very cool but needed some coding expertise that I don’t have.
I saw it too, not fully understanding it tho🤔 So it’s just a token and it doesn’t have to do anything with social interactions or it’s more close to how moxie works?
Literally have no idea. I don’t understand how it works. It feels like friendtech to me. And not sure how I feel about that. But I got burned on Scoop and all these other “buy Farcaster” things so I’m sitting this one out. Which is why I wanted to disclose that I didn’t make this or choose to launch it.
I’ll try and give it a look from pc when I’ll be home, I need to see it better😂 Scoop got me really disappointed ngl, I /sadly/ saved what I could and left. It’s sad because I really liked the app🥲
came here for this, thanks. saw the deposits and couldn't immediately figure out wtf it all was (and zerion isn't helping). yay, more shitcoins.
I’m done playing reindeer games. Got too burned buying creator tokens on Scoop and Dracula and all the other things that were cool for 5 minutes and left. Hamcaster has value. I chose to participate. These other apps aren’t letting us opt out and I dislike this strongly. It implies I sanctioned it.
Venturing into the token world unveils new opportunities and adventures. Embrace the $PICHI journey on Base and Hamcaster, where innovation thrives. Dive into the ecosystems and see how they evolve.
I saw some time ago also my own token in "Stack", but I also have no idea how it works, in the sense of how much is the supply, how many tokens were created and this. On the other hand, if I like the $PICHI token in the Hamchain, but I don't understand how it works, if for example I have your $PICHI tokens on Hamcaster, you can only stake these on your own token to earn rewards on HAM, is that how it works?
For Hamcaster, we both have to take action. As the creator, I had to lock my own tokens for 2 years. This created weekly bonuses for anyone who holds my token and proves I’m in for the long term. As a buyer, if you “stake” my tokens, you get daily rewards but you also get big weekly bonuses because I lock my tokens. You can use https://hamscout.ham.cooking/ to see your rate of return on my tokens. It’s a good way to earn more Ham passively. It’s complicated but worth playing with.
Yes, I think in the past you gave me some tips on your own token, but I don't see them anywhere, so yes, your tokens can only be staked on yourself, that's great. Now if I wanted to create a token, I have read that I need to have Allowance in HAM or enter Tn100x for my token to be attractive for staking, is that right? If I don't have allowance is it not worth to create it yet? Another thing, if they do Staking on your token, do you get rewards?

Do you think - objectively - patience is starting to wear thin in the 🍖? Only about 2X off the lows now and still lacking the real bounce almost all other FC ‘Memecoins’ got. idk - I am still strapped in but that 💥 from deployer is need soon
Hey bro don’t worry. The tech speaks for itself. People have left to play with shitcoins. They’ll be back (hopefully with even more liquidity) -doesn’t help that the gatekeepers to the best wallets and dexes all cock block us. Moxie is a pyramid scheme and Degen has coinbase behind it now. Ham was built for the people. Much like Bitcoin there will be people flooding to ham when they realize what’s going on.
The ham grants just dispersed. I suspect (just suspect) some recipients swapped 6m for other tokens Even though it was streamed, all streams completed either yesterday or the day before. Everyone was free to do what they wanted, but I imagine many swapped. I'm distributing the entire grant to burrfrens. I suspect others are not planning on doing this.
oh that's an interesting reason! have heard a few plausible ones, but that one makes the most sense - had no idea. thank you for sharing that Burrrrrr
Spread the word. BurrFrens gives back always 🤍
🍖 x 3333
Appreciate you 🤍
burrrrrr had that vision 🚀🍖
Maybe future grants could be voted by the community?
IDK man, Deployer never stops, he's a beast. The community has to do its share of the work too
I have no doubts about deployer + I know he is cooking something ... I also have no idea what more the community can do? I was trying to figure out if it is the model of TN100X, the complexity of it all, or just people chasing fast money on Clanker that could explain such a continuous downtrend. what do you think? https://warpcast.com/jdotfinn/0xeaa322c7
The community just needs to keep hamming and onboarding new people.
jdotfinn yeah no idea what's goin on with tn100x, but yeah deployer's always cookin somethin, and ppl always chase fast cash on clanker, that's just how it is
Important question...seems like people may have thought you were being critical when I know you weren't. The outsider narrative seems reasonably clear: Ham is too complicated and hard to figure out. Those niche ham folks love it but I don't get it. The insider narrative isn't as clear but there a fair contingent of lack of concern for the outsider narrative. The meme is the utility. People need to adopt the tech. Why is everyone sleeping on ham. I loved seeing that deployer is working on the website to make it more newcomer friendly. Look forward to seeing that. In general I don't think you win people by making them feel left out or like they are missing something. I think showing them how x product changes their life or journey here would connect better. I'm not saying the other coins that are doing better do that, I'm just saying that's my take on how to make something connect to more people and draw in outsiders/newcomers.
I think you get me bradq, as always. I got skinned a bit today but that is fine. A very revelatory discussion and set of answers across the basket of them. I am not questioning deployer or his abilities, nor the community, but the strategy yes. I am in a ‘show me’ mode now, so let’s see what happens. I will keep hammin’ in the shadows and hopefully we all end up happy. I don’t disagree with any of your points tho!
The fud is strong. Just hang fam and ham will make it right.
trust me, I am not losing confidence! I am in ... (and have def not been selling). just trying to analyze the 'why' of the decline, and I think some good points came up. thanks tho!
I honestly don’t know what else he could do that he’s not already doing. There is no competing with certain hype cycles. He continues to grind, makes quality systems, collaborates with others and is locked in longterm. This is not a founder problem. A major upside for me is people with less can continue to accumulate over time. Ham feels like a blue-ish chip memecoin to me. I’m not worried but I’m not racing either
fair enough, but when the rest of the market is in distribution (major up at this point), you have to ask why exactly TN100X is here to accumulate. this is like a 5 - 6 month accumulation cycle, while everything else was 3 - 4
This is where my mini economic prowess helps me bliss. I’m a believer, I’m not over leveraged. I buy more when it’s on sale. I even launched my token last night 1000 $TRISH
have you seen the Onchain Tip Registry? ribbit 1000 🐸 you were just sent one thousand froggies ser
Gave up on ham after channel got gated. held a balance for a month without being able to post. Sold off then get added the same day and token starts doing this. Wonder what @yoyoboss thinks
ya that element is annoying, I have heard similar complaints from others who can't get in. sorry that happened to you ser
That's actually a good point re:channel. It should be public to post!!
I think clanker just sucking liquidity, deployer said he’s working on a clanker adjacent bot that uses fees to buy back tn100x so I’m not gonna sweat it
to some extent I think that is true, but degen and higher bouncing back big today, not TN100X. I think the random @anondolphin stuff does not help, but I don’t know if there is some play there. I am not selling but I suspect a decent amount of people are. Hamcaster model only holds water if TN100X is valuable enough. For context, Degen, Higher and many others more than 10Xd off the lows.
You are not wrong about the side stuff (not saying you can't have a life outside of your project)... but I know firsthand there were a few people who felt a bit disillusioned with the meme token casts (dolphin etc) rather than working on capitalizing on the bullish market for TN100X gains. As a result they sold their stacks. Obviously, I'm still here, but just voicing some sentiment there, as two JP hammies who I consider to be OG hammers in that community unloaded their stacks. It's also Clanker sucking up liquidity for sure. It's awoken the inner gambler in all of us lmao
Deployer has been amazing at pivots, was relevant during tipping meta, and the moxie social game whatever you call it, and has a plan for the clanker stuff So idk 🤷 It is a bummer when the chart is ass though, I agree
Degen specifically has more visibility with Coinbase and Binance listings. No matter the price of TN100x, Deployer's tech is unmatched for social finance. Just recently, I tipped 80k Ham to someone in our community who got drained. My Degen allowance was used up for the day, but Ham tipping lets you add as much as you want, making it super valuable for the social structure on FC. For quick pump-and-dumps, there are pump-fun shitters on Solana to trade. I'm staying with Ham for the community and the cult, and I will keep adding to my TN100x position.
I got my dca on super boring going so I’m not sweatin
