With a mostly successful Basscaster unveiling, I'm starting a new weekly series around building it in public in the Farcaster ecosystem.
Basscaster has been successfully birthed!
On Tuesday I hosted a conversation with ChicBangs of Higher.FM, with a few dedicated listeners. The things that went well:
Chic and I actually heard each other!
The live chat worked for the most part
User tracking in the audio section of Basscaster worked as expected, ie people joining and leaving was accurate in real-time
Some things that need improvement:
Resiliency, especially for listeners- there's a reason audio apps have that 'reconnecting' status screen!
Chat needs to be viewable alongside the audio status section rather than having to scroll down to see the latest messages
Seamless integration with Farcaster's social graph didn't happen in time for Tuesday, so that's the next bit of work as well as adding static media play / listen party functionality. I'll be working on that with Chic over the next few weeks for Higher.Fm, so stay tuned for announcement of that launch event!
