ETHBoston 2023 Speakers' Reception

ETHBoston 2023 Speakers Reception

ETHBoston (@ETHBoston) returned after a pandemic-induced hiatus on April 29th and 30th, 2023. Members of the Boston DAO (@TheBostonDAO) worked to throw an amazing conference full of top-notch block chain speakers and local networking opportunities.

The weekend kicked off with a Speakers Reception for all the speakers and panelists who were lending their time and expertise to the event.

On Friday, April 28th, G20 Ventures (@G20Ventures), a Boston-based capital partner for web3 startups, hosted a Fenway Park tour and a dinner at Time Out Market Boston

It was above and beyond a typical speakers' reception, and I loved the unique spin on a conference networking event

The Fenway Park Tour

The evening began with a private group tour of Fenway Park

We had a wonderfully enthusiastic tour guide, who worked us through the Fenway, which is both an active MLB stadium and a protected historical site within the city of Boston.

Nestled in the heart of Boston, Fenway Park stands as a timeless testament to America's love affair with baseball. Steeped in history and brimming with legendary moments, this iconic ballpark has captured the hearts of fans for over a century.

On our tour, we were shown highlights of the rich history of Fenway Park. We learned about its origins, notable milestones, and enduring charm.

Our Tour Guide Explaining The History of Fenway

On April 20, 1912, Fenway Park opened its gates for the very first time. The brainchild of Boston Red Sox owner John I. Taylor, Fenway Park was designed by architect James E. McLaughlin, with its distinctive features including the "Green Monster" left-field wall and the invitingly short right-field porch. The park was named after the Fenway neighborhood it called home.

Fenway Park quickly became the stage for unforgettable moments and baseball legends. In 1918, the Red Sox clinched their last World Series title of the "Babe Ruth era" before selling Ruth to the New York Yankees. The "Curse of the Bambino" seemed to haunt the Red Sox for decades, until they finally triumphed in 2004, breaking an 86-year championship drought.

In the 1940s, another Boston baseball legend emerged—Ted Williams. Known as "The Splendid Splinter," Williams dazzled fans with his exceptional hitting skills and achieved a .406 batting average in 1941—a record that still stands today. Fenway Park served as Williams' arena, and his larger-than-life presence further cemented the ballpark's iconic status.

Over the years, Fenway Park has witnessed a myriad of historic moments. In 1967, the "Impossible Dream" Red Sox captivated the city by winning the American League pennant and advancing to the World Series. Carlton Fisk's dramatic home run in the 1975 World Series, famously known as "Fisk's Wave," is forever etched in baseball history.

Fenway Park's unique dimensions and quirks have provided countless memorable moments, such as David Ortiz's game-winning home runs and countless outfield wall collisions.

The Green Monster, the towering left-field wall, is perhaps the most recognizable feature of Fenway Park. Standing at 37 feet 2 inches, it has been both a friend and foe to players. Its unusual height has resulted in countless home runs being robbed, making it a constant source of excitement and frustration for players and fans alike.

Throughout its existence, Fenway Park has remained a testament to the preservation of baseball tradition. Despite the trend toward modern, state-of-the-art ballparks, the Red Sox organization has admirably held on to the charm and character of Fenway. The park underwent extensive renovations and additions over the years, including the addition of luxury suites and expanded seating capacity, while carefully preserving its iconic features and nostalgic aura.

After the Fenway Park tour, we were treated to dinner at Time Out Market Boston (@TimeOutBoston) by G20 Ventures.

Upon entering Time Out Market, I was immediately captivated by its vibrant and lively atmosphere. The restaurant complex features a modern and stylish design, with various seating options available. The open layout allows guests to mingle and enjoy the energetic ambiance, which further elevates the dining experience.

Time Out Boston is a haven for food lovers, as it brings together an impressive collection of eateries, each offering a unique culinary experience. Whether you're in the mood for sushi, tacos, pizza, or innovative fusion dishes, there is something to satisfy every palate.
