Tezos NFT Summit 2023 #NFTNYC2023

Tezos NFT Summit 2023

It's a well guarded secret, but Tezos is my favorite blockchain.

I am in love with minting Tezos NFTs, collecting Tezos NFTs, supporting the Tezos community, running Tezos Twitter spaces, and attending Tezos events IRL.

I know. I'm very subtle about it.

During #NFTNYC2023, Tezos hosted their own Tez-centric conference. The Tezos NFT Summit took place on April 12th and 13th, 2023 at Spring Studios in New York City.

The event was wonderful! The gallery space was gorgeous, the line-up of speakers was impressive, top Tezos artists offered free portfolio reviews, and there was even an NFT art contest.

The week was a whirlwind, and I was only able to attend on Tuesday morning, but what I saw left me feeling bullish for the future of the Tezos ecosystem.

The Conference

@baker_cajun on Stage Introducing the Next Panel

After a late and wonderful night at the Tez Art Connect party, on the absolute best #TezosTueaday ever, I rallied early, hopped on the F-train from my brother's place in Brooklyn and headed straight to the Tezos NFT Summit.

I arrived at Spring Studios, located at 50 Varnick Street, NY, NY and discovered a gorgeous venue space.

Upon confirming my registration, I was given a Tezos pin, that has found a permenant home on my camera strap.

The Tezos Pin

I was instructed to head up to the 6th floor where two studio spaces had been rented for the event.

The main room was big and bright, and dominated by a wall of glass that offered a charming view of the city.

The View

As guests entered the space, they were greeted with screens displaying Tezos art, announcing the latest Tezos news, and encouraging guests to start collecting Tezos NFTs with a Kukai wallet

The Screens

The main room contained a stage for talks, chairs for guests to observe the talks, a generous coffee bar, and space for guests to mingle and network.

The Stage

The Audience

The second room was closed off.

Inside, top Tezos artists and collectors, such as Victoria West, were offering portfolio reviews to people who had signed up for the opportunity in advance.

The Talks

Panel: Art on the Blockchain: Get A Glimpse of Whats Next

I arrived in time to listen to the "Art on the Blockchain: Get A Glipse of What's Next" panel featuring Paul Schmidt, Brian Mc Alister, and Ana Maria Caballero.

The three panelist were there to discuss the future updates and big moves for the respective platforms that they work for. Paul was representing FXHash, the top Tezos platform for generative art. Brian is a co-founder at Objkt.com, the top Tezos platform for independent artists. And Ana Maria was highlighting the progress of theVERSEverse, a Tezos minting platform for poets and text-based artists.

The conversation was excellent. All three platforms are doubled down on growing the space for Tezos artists and collectors.

The spirit of community partnership that I love within the Tezos artist community, extends to the people running the platforms. Paul, Brian, and Ana Maria talked about current, and future, collaborations between the three platforms with the ultimate goal of making Tezos more accessible to a broader base of users always at the forefront of their collective efforts.

At the end of the talk, I felt more confident than ever to use Tezos and Objkt as the homebase for my web3 portfolio.

Panel: The Art of Disruption: How Blockchain and NFTs are Changing the Art Market - Wade Wallerstein, Micol Ap, Kaloh, Richard Entrup

Unfortunately, I had to leave the Tezos NFT Summit to meet up with people at the NFT NYC conference after the first panel.

I was able to snap a few photos of the second panel before I headed out.

Next year, I plan to reevaluate my NFT NYC schedule and ensure that I devote much more time to the excellent Tezos NFT Summit.
