Anxiety: Liberation Through Exhalation

A poetic reading meditation for those moments when life hits particularly hard and unexpected, and we must find our ground again fast.

Here you are,

In this moment,

Acknowledging your presence,

Despite everything you feel.

Breathe in deeply,

Fill your belly,

Exhale with a soft 'ha'.

Two more times—

Inhale deeply,

Exhale with release.

Now, gently wiggle,

Arms, legs, hands, feet—

Move your body as it needs,

And focus on the exhale,

Letting the inhales come naturally,

While the exhales, long and deep,

Carry away stagnant energy,

Emotions,

Anxiety.

Let the movement continue,

Or rest in stillness.

Feel what you need,

And exhale,

Release,

Liberate yourself.

The inhales,

They come freely,

But the exhale,

The exhale is yours to control,

Your tool to dispel tension,

Stress,

Thoughts.

Each time the mind pulls you away,

Bring yourself back,

To the next exhale,

Deep and purposeful.

Feel the calm that follows,

Subtle, yet present.

Let each exhale carry you,

Out of anxiousness,

Into relief,

Into depth.

Here, you are in control.

Adjust your position if needed,

Or stay as you are.

How can you be more comfortable?

It’s your choice,

You are in control.

No need to entertain the mind,

Just focus on your exhale,

Breathing out relief,

Freeing yourself,

Deepening the calm.

If lightheadedness comes,

It is your body self-regulating,

A gentle reminder to adjust,

To breathe at your own pace.

You are moving out of anxiety,

Into a state of peace.

Make the next exhale deep,

Liberate yourself again.

Each exhale dispels what no longer serves you,

And when the mind returns with its chatter,

Take it as an invitation,

For the next deep exhale,

For release.

Feel the sensations,

No judgment needed,

Just feeling,

Little by little,

Calming your whole being.

Now,

You decide,

To keep breathing with purpose,

Or to let the breath return to its natural rhythm.

Either way,

You remain with the breath,

Your peacekeeper,

Your balance,

Your calm.

Here you are,

Breathing,

Free from judgment,

Feeling yourself here,

Alive,

Whole,

And at peace.
