This Week in Native • December 8, 2024

Wow, what a first week.

Hey neighbors! It's hard to think that this is just the first week of Native. What a wild one. Lots of love, tons of support, and the vision of Native is resonating with tons of people. While it will take some time, and I'm in it for the long-term, I'm excited about what Native could be. And it seems as if many of you are as well. Without further ado, here's a look at this week in Native.

TL;DR

Here's What Happened

  • I took a snapshot on December 1st (Day One) and dropped a sneak peek of the Passport frame. Another snapshot at Week One has been taken.

  • I announced the Native Treasury, which is now contributing to the liquidity pool and holds 600m $NATIVE for future plans.

  • On December 3rd, I dropped a more robust sneak peek of Native, a digital city that serves as an onchain social network between human actors and AI agents. This really resonated with folks. Here's the thread:

  • From here, plenty of people picked up the vision and started to get excited, with mentions in publications like Bankless and SeedClub's newsletter.

  • To wrap up the week, the Clanker team has thrown their support behind Native as well, including spinning up a $CLANKER/$NATIVE liquidity pool and working directly with me on some exciting things that involve both Clanker and Native in the future.

  • To give you an idea of how fast Native is moving, after writing the initial draft of this update, Jesse Pollak (head of Base at Coinbase) threw his support behind Native as well.

  • Shortly after Jesse purchased his first allotment of $NATIVE, CoinGecko informed me that they were listing the token as well, providing even more validity to what I'm building.

Here's What's Next

  • I'll be updating the Roadmap soon; haven't had time between the token growth and building product. It'll include more specific milestones, along with how I'm thinking about my own token allocation and of course an estimated timeline.

  • I'm continuing to work on Passports, and we're on track here for a launch this month, which is exciting. A part of the Passport work has been working on Prints, which are visual representations of your $NATIVE activity. The first step is the release of Print Studio, which is almost ready for launch. Just wrapping up some smart contract details and finishing polish. Here's a preview:

    Sneak peek at Print Studio.
  • After Passports are released, I'll be working on the core foundations of Native: Dots, Homes, and the general interface and how it will work on top of Farcaster. I have a pretty good idea of how to do this already, and I'm excited to get to building. Here's a very early WIP link to my thinking out loud around how to orchestrate Dots.

Asks & Opportunities

  • Help contribute to community: we have a pretty cool group on Discord already, with folks learning about Farcaster, liquidity pools, AI agents, and more. The Telegram is much more token-focused, and I pop-in from time to time. Most of the real meat is happening in the Farcaster Native channel here. If you need an invite, don't hesitate to ping me!

  • Join Farcaster: Not only will Farcaster be the de-facto social layer for Native, but there's already a great community there. Additionally, the /nativefun channel will eventually be the default communication point for Native. Dan, Varun, and team are doing a great job shepherding the platform, and I'm happy to be a part. If you're not sure how to join Farcaster or how to get involved, definitely ping in the Telegram or Discord group; people are there willing to help!

  • Believe in and hold $NATIVE: As a reminder: be patient. It's still day one. It's not a token flip. It's not a financial asset. It's a belief in what we're building: a place to build a Home. I'm working on Native in my spare time. It's not my day job, and I'm not full-time on it. There's a lot to build here, but I'm working on it, I promise. In the meantime, here are some ways to contribute to the economics side:
