First is the worst, second is the best, third is the one with the treasure chest...

Using the Larry O'Brien trophy.

sparked watching the first few appearances of bronny james in nba summer league.

swaths of the internet are trolling simply for the love of the game. it can/will get carried away at times. but is wat is.

more interestingly to me, the idea of nepotism re: bronny, brings together some pieces in my mind i had not expected.

dynasty. legacy. rings.

if i think about peyton, eli, and archie manning, i think dynasty or legacy. i think about the rings they've won.

but when we think about bronny, we think about nepotism, doubt, and fluke. he has no rings, he's green as fresh cut grass.

when i was growing up we had a random saying "first is the worst, second is the best, third is the one with the treasure chest."

stretching that model, it feels quite insightful re: the herd accepting anything really.

  • you make a kick ass invention. "prove it again."

  • you do a superhuman feet. "prove it again."

  • you break ground on a new music genre. "prove it again."

we don't like being deceived. we are very skeptical of the one-hit-wonder.

if you played video games growing up you know no win is solidified until after the rematch game. such is life.

if bronny james goes onto become a successful ball player, you will have those that affirm him into the herd, and those that deny him.

if bryce james comes into the league, and is also successful, the james family will be reconsidered a dynasty.

makes me wonder what this understanding can accomplish in tech, arts, sciences, engineering, and personal endeavors of many ilk.
