As we gear up for the ATX Onchain Summer Extravaganza, I wanted to share some thoughts on why Nounspace is hosting this incredible event and what it means for our journey towards a decentralized future.

The term "onchain" might still be new to some, but it's quickly becoming the cornerstone of the next internet evolution. At Nounspace, we're passionate about bringing more people onchain, not just because it's the future of technology, but because it represents a more transparent, inclusive, and fun way of interacting online.

One of the core reasons we're organizing this event is to foster a sense of community. Blockchain technology can sometimes seem intimidating, especially for those who aren't tech-savvy. We want to change that perception by creating a space where everyone feels welcome, whether you're a crypto veteran or a complete beginner.

At the ATX Onchain Summer Extravaganza, you'll have the chance to meet local builders, artists, and enthusiasts who are shaping the future of art, finance, AI, communities, and social interaction. This event is all about bridging the gap between the real world (IRL) and the digital world (URL), showing how blockchain can enhance our everyday lives.

We believe that learning about blockchain should be as enjoyable as it is enlightening. That's why our event is packed with live music from Austin's best band ever, Willy McGee's Band, a DJ set from myself, Nounspace Tom, as well as special local guest, and a variety of booths offering free prizes and NFT giveaways. There will be food, drinks, and games to ensure that everyone has a great time.

More importantly, this event is an opportunity to demystify blockchain technology. Through interactive demos and hands-on experiences with local web3 builders, attendees can see firsthand how blockchain works and why it's such a game-changer. We’ll have local artists and merchants selling items for USDC on Base (zero transaction fees when using the Coinbase wallet) as well as a station to help you set up a wallet and get rolling with your first onchain dollars (1 USDC = $1).

Nounspace is more than just a social app; it's a movement towards a decentralized future where users have complete control over their data and relationships. We're inspired by the customizable and community-driven ethos of platforms like Myspace, but we're taking it a step further by building on the Farcaster protocol. This ensures that our users' data is secure, permissionless, and owned by them.

The ATX Onchain Summer Extravaganza is also a celebration of the tangible impact we can make by working together.
