My path started out with going to Art School for Filmmaking. When I was growing up I was inspired by watching MTV, Sci-Fi, Godzilla, scary movies, and any cartoon related content I could find. This was long before streaming so I had to wait or have it on VHS or DVD, hard times.
I came back after school to my home town with no skills to get a practical job. I needed money so I started working in the Culinary Arts for some years to pay off loans & bills. During this time I moved to Hawaii (another story), LA, & San Francisco. It was during this time I started getting gigs in video production.
I was finally doing what I wanted to do after school.
One of my big breaks came by moving to NYC with 3k in my pocket. This was a true grind, NYC chewed me up & spit me out a few times. But I found a gig with a production company and ended up working with Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Public Enemy, & Shania Twain to name a few. I had a camera in my hand at all times, I was so happy!
During this time I moved to San Francisco for work & I met a someone, we got married, had kids, and I learned to be a dad. Creatively I branched out further by working as a portrait & event photographer. I loved taking photos and still do to this day. I was editing videos, photographing events, and doing client portraits.
I was really using all my skills. Happy times!
Then the pandemic hit and I lost all my clients.
Like everyone there was a period of WTF is going to happen?!? I spent some time figuring out what I wanted to do, and I soon focused on my artmaking. I dedicated my entire being to making art in a collage style, working everyday with the idea & mission of making people happy with my visual creations.
It was a strange time, but I felt like I could do anything when making art!
I continued working to get better and from there some cool things started to happen. I had my artwork installed at the Chase Center in San Francisco earlier this year (BIG win), as well as distribution of my art to international markets, and now I am working to spread my creativity out through Web 3, like here on Warpcast. This is where the path continues, meeting new people, creating art, & learning new things everyday.
We all have our own path to follow in this life and things rarely go according to plan, being flexible & open is the way. My life has been filled with some amazing experiences, but also with many mistakes, but that's life, we live and learn, doing the best we can. I value my time on the path much more now, and devote everything I have to continuing to grow.
Thanks, Odell
